Sorry everyone......moan alert, avert your eyes if you don't want to read, I understand.

So I've been out of circulation, as it were, since early December now....😳 started with the usual seasonal sinus infection following a cold. Here we go again I thought...some of you may know that this scenario last winter had me on the ic with a chest infection that lasted weeks. Well, this one went to my chest again, only this time, four courses of antibiotics later has not actually gone.......and yes I've had a chest xray etc....I keep thinking I feel better....then I have a night like last night, all coughing, no sleep.....given up and come back downstairs so everyone else can sleep.....I'd like to add if you've read this far, that investigations into the cause and treatment are continuing....and yes I know there are other health forums, I might even have a look.....but what I've come here for today...after my long moan (sorry about that) is to read about all of your running stories, I love running, I never thought I would be able to say that in my late forties...but I love running, I miss running, I don't know at this moment whether I will ever be able to do it again.......so I'm here to cheer you lot on, and maybe feel a bit better for doing that....I know it will make me miss it more, but I'm hoping there is light somewhere at the end of this very long tunnel that I will once again, lace up my favourite shoes and dash out the door...............

Sorry to read about your health problems. If you can walk comfortably, I suggest that you try to get out every other day ( well wrapped up!) and walk, so when you start back with the jogging it won't be such a shock to your system

This is a suggestion others have made I tried it and just had a massive coughing fit.....so, I'm waiting to try again....need to pick a day when it's not too cold or windy....both seem to agrevate the cough....

Oh Soniabrown, I’m really hoping that you’re back to full strength soon🤗. I struggled to get back out and I know that’s not the same☺️, but I stand by one of my mantra’s that “delays are not denials”. It has kept me knowing I’m going back out there some day.

I’m ever so grateful for the support that the Forum gives to us all too. You’re a runner on pause and I hope you get to press go sooner than you think! Big hugs! 🤗❤️

hya Sonia, you've had a rough time and no doubt. The way I see it recovery is two pronged: getting the right medication and having a plan for recovery. I'll explain. When i got ill in the middle of my 9 weeks. I couldn't run for that time so I went through pharmacy/ doctor stages then bed then when I was able to be up again I did what I could. At first I walked my running route. I'm a great believer in doing sport I like so next I went to a beautiful place locally for a walk. My chest was bad so I judged how long the walk would be and left when I felt I'd had enough. Listen to yourself and trust you know the answers. Do a little bit more next time and go somewhere worth seeing. Then, and this is crucial, when I felt ready I started running again tho I took it slow. How long this takes is not important but always doing a bit more is. Good luck on your recovery.

Thank you parktrotter, good advice that. On the subject of medication, I was just saying to my mum, my gp won't commit to anything further without a spirometry test, which I have to wait another six weeks for....mum thinks its allergic asthma...and its kicking off big style....with only a blue inhaler, no preventative one....but walking your favourite route seems like a plan I could work with....I'll wait until storm Dennis has done his worst though before trying again.....

I would. Definitely give this weekend a miss. let Dennis do his worst then you can come out to play.

I had a spirometry test at outpatients after I had blood clots in my lungs and you have to blow into a machine.

It is frustrating though when you really want to do something and obstacles are thrown in your way and there's nothing you can do about them!

So sorry to read about your health issues that don’t let you run I hope with the coming of spring your chest will clear and you will be able to lace up those shoes

Sorry to hear you’re having a rough time of it... on the bright side you’re missing being out in these storms! The tunnel will come to an end and the light will be wonderful to run into. Hope you’re better soon.
