After repeating week 4, I took on week 5 with some trepidation but....I loved it again. I have found a route that is gently undulating rather than full on hills!
I didnโt find runs 1 and 2 easy by any stretch but I really didnโt think Iโd make run 3 and had already decided that Iโd probably end up repeating week 5 also. I actually did it, I ran for 20 minutes. I found the first 8-10 hard but then seemed to settle to a breathing and legs rhythm that didnโt kill me and before I knew it my watch buzzed to tell me to turn back. My mind drifted a bit and then I suddenly only had three minutes to go. I even finished on a hill. Donโt get me wrong, i hurt a bit but you know I recovered as well.
Yes, go you, well done! Take the next run slowly as it can catch some people out for some reason......bring it on ๐๐
Our group did that run today, still cannot believe we did it, especially how hard the two 8 minute runs had been. Now I have recovered the full feeling in my legs they are letting me know just what I put them through this morning. I am glad our next run is not until Monday.
We all decided that we would go for the runs and are only going to repeat a run or even go back if it really defeats us. On Monday I had a really bad day for the first time and gave up after only a couple of minutes into the run, two of the others walked with me out of concern. The others finished the first 8 minutes then called it a day too. We are all sticking together and just went for it again Wednesday and we done it.
After doing week one 5 times and realising it was only confidence that held us back as the repeats did very little for us physically, we made the decision to push forward first and it appears to be paying off. We now look at it with the view that we have nothing to lose by giving it a go. We seem to achieve today what we thought was impossible yesterday. Good luck with week 6.

Got a hot bath running now, I am hoping that is going to help.
