Week 2 - first run

Well that was grim! Was surprised how much harder that felt. On the positive side the first 60secs were easy - so I'm definitely improving! Was very glad to get that finished though as I'm sure it will be easier next time.

For those about to tackle this one and are anxious about it, its probably worth looking at the stuff on mental attitude. I kept looking at my phone and thinking "I want to stop, I can't go on". Then I'd grit my teeth and say "Come on you can do anything for 20 seconds!" It really works if you decide you are going to do it no matter how hard it feels. Then its over and that smug glow kicks in..... Good luck week 2 folk!

Amazing well done! Some gritty determination right there! Well done for focusing on the positive mental attitude, and hope your smug feeling lasts all day! :-)

Whatever works for you - bloody mindedness is good πŸ˜‚

It's definitely a mental battle as much as physical - more probably

Well done 😊

Well done, but if it is really tough you are probably pushing too hard for your current fitness level.

It may seem counterintuitive, but slow running builds stamina and strength.

Smug and pink.......the signs of a runner.

Well done for pushing through. That was the run I found the hardest for some reason. Remember to keep the pace slow - it helps so much. And great you found that first minute easy!

Thanks for the advice. I think I probably am trying too hard πŸ˜„. I will slow down a bit and see how it goes.

If I could give you one tip, it would be try to resist looking at your phone. Whenever I check how long I have left I find it so much harder to keep going. Your coach will tell you when it's time to stop, and once you move to the longer runs they'll let you know periodically how long you have left.

Enjoy the smug glow - there's no feeling like it!
