Hi guys I love the program and I have successfully completed week 3 and unfortunately my inner knees are really tender not so sore, but just tender does anyone have that problem I have recently swapped my shoes. Could that be the issue anyway any ideas? What to do because I don't really want to slow down. I'm having a good time.

Painful inner knees
Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run and knee strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Did you have a gait analysis before buying your new shoes.........if not, they may be totally inappropriate for you.
Enjoy your journey.
I too have really sore knees at week 3. A physio friend has advised chi droit in, turmeric and vitamin e. I have had a week off as have had flu so run 3 of week 3 today but may have to restart week
I had this when I started c25k. I think it was a combination of doing too much without proper stretching before and after and bad trainers. I took a week off, got new trainers, and began taking time to stretch before each run (I know not everyone recommends that but I really need it!) I also started doing some simple knee strengthening excercises. The pain did go away and I managed to complete the programme. Still running now good luck
I wear knee supports just medium strength and find this helps enormously especially keeping my knees warmer. I've also invested in a yoga ball and when sitting in front of the TV have this between my knees for about half an hour and push in on it. This not only stops me crossing my legs (very bad for knees and hips) but seems to have helped to sort out my knee pain. I don't know if this is the placebo effect but it works for me.
Trainers! They can make all the difference to your running. I am a convert, I thought running was just running. My son who is a marathon runner was horrified when he saw I was wearing fashion trainers to run in and made me and 'er indoors go get proper trainers.
We also had "Gait Analysis" and had insoles moulded to our feet. The Gait Analysis will provide you with trainers that have the ability to correct over pronation and under pronation. (The angle of the ankle joint in relation to the leg making injury to ankles, knees and feet more likely) The new shoes were a revelation! My knee problems were greatly reduced and after a few weeks, were non existent. The link will give info. We used the Sweat Shop store in Milton Keynes, but lots do it.
