It's really scary to think that a month ago I could barely run for 60 seconds. Yet W5R3 is a 20 minute run ๐ฌ
Since week 4 was 5 minutes, this seems a huge jump!!

Slow and steady - you definitely can do it. If it hurts, slow down more. There is no moment like the moment on 5:3 when your coach tells you youโve done it and you can slow down now. Take hankies ! Weโre right here cheering you on x
I did the 20 min run at the weekend. I also didn't believe it was possible as was amazed I could run for 5 mins or 8 mins. I just kept going very slowly and the time actually seemed to pass quickly. Felt like a great achievement at the end ๐
Iโm about to embark on W5 too.
Look at the total running times:
R1 - 15 mins
R2 - 16 mins
R3 - 20 mins
W4 was 16 mins every run, W5 is simply a stamina building exercise to add 4 mins to the time you have already run three times. ๐
It is not a huge jump and this post explains why healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
You can do this.
Thanks for posting that link, very interesting, I think the thing is a lot of us including me only actually measure the run times, so that when we get to W5R3 it does seem to us a big jump.
Looking forward to getting there though, that is the aim of what we consider proper 'running' rightly or wrongly that is sort of what we are here for, if that makes sense?
I know what you mean! In Week 5 though it's a big change as each run is different, Run 1 has 5 minutes of running with walking, Run 2 is 8 minutes of running - which I completed yesterday- it still seems a big leap from 8 minutes to 20 minutes but I think the key is to pace yourself!
I'm doing run 3 tomorrow- hopefully il manage it! ๐๐๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ
You can do it! Just do your best! Xx
You've done the hard part already believe or not ... which was Week 4! W4 sees the biggest increase in running in the whole program from 9 minutes in W3 to 16 minutes! That's 75% longer!
As said above, look at the TOTAL running time
And in case you didn't know, by the time you do W5R3, you'll have 157 minutes of running in your legs which *should* be enough new stamina and fitness to see you through a 20 minute run, no?
Good luck!
John
That's what I thought also Trust the system. It wouldn't suggest the time length, if you were not ready. Go slow and you'll be shocked that you were able to finish.
