I did the first run in week 5 today which I enjoyed! However I’ve just noticed run 3 jumps to a solid 20 minute run from 8 minutes in run 2!
Those who have completed this week, how did you find the transition into a much longer run?

Every run & rest day you have done so far has prepared you for the next one. Your goal is to run! You are moving forward slowly but surely to becoming a runner!! It’s a great adventure so look forward to each new challenge. Look how far you have come already since that first walk out the door! 👍👏
I did my W5R3 about a month back and I did finished my run meaning my body was prepared to handle this. I have never run in the last 20 years and yes, it was possible. The biggest hurdle was my mind which kept scaring me of the 20mins timeline
Just keep it slow and you will do it
I think everyone who reads ahead sees the 20 min run as OMG! How!
But just think where you were at 5 weeks ago.... you probably thought the same when it said you'd be running 8 mins in total on and off.
If you've stuck to plan, your body is ready for it. It's your brain going ahhhh.... Get some good music or a podcast and just keep going.
You'll probably see lots of posts asking about this W5R3 and it's okay to worry but once you finish it you'll wonder why you were worried in the first place and you'll be ready to crack on with Week 6.
GOOD LUCK! You'll smash it
P.S - Also remember that you need to listen to your body (ignore your brain), if you are in pain then stop. There should be some discomfort because you are pushing your body but not pain. And it's okay to repeat runs. It's all part of the plan.
Thanks guys for your support! I am looking forward to the sense of achievement when I complete it!
I was so concerned about that run, that I spend all day mentally preparing for it. Knowing the start would be hard, knowing I'd have to start real slow, knowing it would get tough at the end but I needed to focus on just putting one foot in front of the other, no matter how slow.
You know what, that has ended up being my favourite run of the program so far (wk6 r3 tonight). Dont fear it. If you've completed all of the other runs, then you'll be physically ready. Just clear your mind and focus.
You'll smash it! I have faith!
All the runs up until now have prepared you for what comes next . You can do it . 🤗🤗
Impossible to get your head round it beforehand but they wouldn't put it next up in the program unless it was a realistic thing to get you doing. Really, really, really!
You will be fine I done that run this morning go slow you will smash it I am sure trust the program I felt like a runner after today 😂
Did W5 R3 yesterday and still buzzing!! I’m another one who was dreading it but kept to a very steady (slow!) pace and completed it without stopping. Just trust the programme and keep telling yourself you can do! 😁👍
