I completed week 5 today and did the 20 min run which I was super happy about...but I also mistakenly mapped my run alongside which said I only ran 2.09km in that time and now I feel disheartened! I'm nowhere near 5k and probably walk faster than I run! I know I should be feeling positive and im kicking myself I downloaded that app!

Congratulations, don't worry about speed, you ran non stop for 20 minutes, well done, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran 🏃🏾 😊.

Thanku...I know I shouldn't care about distance...I always expect too much of myself when I should be proud of what I've actually achieved...I will watch out for that, thanks for the advice

Wow, don't feel down - you ran for 20 whole minutes ☺

It's not about the distance, we are building up the time we are running 🏃, the distance will come later.

Only about 10% reach 5k at graduation, or something like that.

Keep on doing what you're doing, trust the plan, you're doing great 😊 🏃

And if I was you, I'd delete that app ☺

Thanku..I appreciate your support and I have taken your advice and deleted said app! I need to focus on the time, I realise this 😊 I can build up the distance when I've graduated.

Stay positive, it isn’t easy, if it was everyone would be doing it. I did the 20 min run today, and was ok until at 15 mins, when I had to run up a hill, it wasn’t a steep one but having reached the top I reverted to a brisk walk as I was exhausted. I’m encouraged by my progress but I’m going to do week 5 again I think to increase my stamina, as week 6 looks very tough.

No it's always mental for me anyway and then I go and try and make it harder for myself!!....u have done so well running up a hill! Not sure I could! Thanku for your support!

That's an absolutely ok distance! Well done, you have now got that longer single run under your belt!

It might be best not to bother tracking your runs because all you have to do at the moment is follow the prigramme!

I know if I'd tracked my runs at that stage it would have been quite off putting.

You are still a new runner so enjoy the new experience and try not to be tough on yourself!

Yeah I realise this now, its always a mental challenge to keep anything like this going and then I make it harder for myself! Thanku for the support! 😊

Really good luck! Just run slowly and patiently and you'll be fine!

I will, thanku! And well done for being a graduate...u guys keep us newbies going on here!

I totally get how you feel but I know now that running for 20 minutes outweighs the actual distance any day. I’m not focusing on the distance at all, just the length of time. Well done! 👍

I was just so curious to see how far I got and then wished I never! But I wont be doing it again lol. Well done to u too!

Being slow now does not mean being slow forever. You made me ask myself what my wk5 r3 was like, so I looked back and it was exactly the same! Dont worry about distance, it is time that makes the difference. You will get faster when you are stronger. But in ordet to get there you have to be slow! (it is all very yoda!) That is the way that it works!

I know thanku..I feel daft now letting it bother me so much. I wont be tracking anything again now till I've graduated...and THEN I can focus on distance and speeding up a bit..thanks for the encouragement 😊

You don't need to feel stupid about it! We have all been there( 😧 I have been running for such a long time and I have only done HOW MUCH!! 😱😱😱)

When you do start tracking yourself, the only person you should be thinking about challenging and beating is yourself. Comparison is the thief of joy!!

Hey don’t worry about that the distance will come in time.

Just enjoy it. You are getting if the couch and actually running outside. How great is that. 🤸‍♂️👍🏻🙌🏻

20 mins is blooming awesome 😎 such an inspiration!!!!!

I think we put unnecessary pressure on ourselves to be perfect’. Perfectionism is overrated. Action is everything 💕

Yeah we do! I cant just be happy with the time 🤦‍♀️ but after everyone's messages I realise the distance isnt that important atm. Thanks for the message 😊

I finished C25k on Halloween, carried on throughout Nov & Dec, including my first organised 5k on 01/12, got ill over Xmas/NY so didn’t run for a week, went back to week 6 because I felt so incapable. Finished the programme again, and now I’m starting to get into ParkRun. My quickest run is the 5k in December mentioned above at 36m 8s, so I still can’t run the distance in less than 30 minutes, but my husband could before he got injured and that was by the time he got to w7. Everyone’s different but most don’t get to 5k in 30m.

I do record my distance but that’s because I want to work up to 10k for a charity run I’m entered in this summer. Current times show it will take me 70-80 minutes.

Wow that's amazing! Good luck with your 10k! I cant imagine running that but I'm hoping to one day! You're doing great and gives me positive vibes. Thanks

Well, I’m struggling to imagine it myself, but I still have 4 months and I’ll be much more enthusiastic when it’s not 2°C at 0615hrs!!!

That's almost exactly what I did in that first 20 min run and I'm not a complete beginner I used to run then had to stop for 3 years due to illness I used to be able to park run in 28 mins I'm on week 7 now and the fastest mile I've done so far has been 12.36 min miles and like you I was disheartened but we're running!!! For 20 whole minutes non stop were way faster and going way further than we were when still sat on the couch!! You're doing amazing just keeping going!
