Two years on

I graduated roughly 2 years ago and I still run three mornings a week, come hell or high water. I'm not bothered if it's wet or snowy, provided it's too not too slippery to run (If it is I just go out later on in the day). Some days I'll do 5K, other days if I'm in a hurry it's maybe 2.5K, but run as HIIT. One tip I would like to pass on as to how to complete 5K as quickly as possible and that's to run like the police are after you. ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐Ÿ˜‚ That's a great tip! I'll give it a go at Parkrun tomorrow... I saw a tip for running a fast 5km in Runner's World recently - it was basically "start out fast and keep it up" - so, just run really fast?! No s*%!, Sherlock!

I don't know about you, but 'run as fast as you can' doesn't really appeal. I'm just an ordinary mortal not a serious and committed runner. The humourous approach works for me when I want to speed up, like imagining the cops or after me or I've just left a curry house without paying. Whatever works for you ๐Ÿ˜„

Thanks - another great tip to file in the memory bank ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ‘ฎ ๐Ÿƒ

Alternatively, run like you've just left a curry house without paying. Any tip at all is better than 'just run faster' ๐Ÿคฃ

Great tip but if we ran like the police were rafter us we would puff too much itโ€™s good to know you are still running

If you fancy doing longer runs without getting out of breath you could try Japanese slow jogging, it's a way of extending how far you can run without getting tired too quickly. I've done a few longer runs (usually during the summer) using that method.

We are slow and can run for 6k gently the japanese running helped immensely and now we can put in a longer sprint near the end at least we could until flu struck us down but recovering g now

Great that you are still out there doing it. Hope you're not in too much trouble with the police. Bet you're pretty fast after 2 years of practising ๐Ÿ‘

Good to hear from you again Baddie, hope you're keeping it up too? I still come to the forum, usually just to read the posts. A friend of mine retired last March and from April onward we went on a load of short breaks with our wives: result, due to all the high living I put on 5kgs and ended up getting a kicking from my doc because my HbA1c was up again. He knows I can restore the balance and he's given me 4 months to do it. ๐Ÿคž

I tried that this morning. My case comes up before magistrates on Monday - failing to stop at the request of police. I had to say โ€œyouโ€™ve got me bang to rights, but The Fat Controller made me do itโ€.

Iโ€™ve got my Hba1c bloods next week. Fingers crossed but also expecting a rollicking.

Good luck with the bloods HeavyFoot. The problem is it's always easier to let the levels go up than to get them down ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ
