Itβs my Guernsey day today and I was out for 7am to do my run. No gremlins, no pressure! Put on my new shorts and I was happy to get out the door this morning. Feeling very lucky to have such a great morning routine before work begins. It definitely set me up for a positive day.
I still felt the twinge of being far from 5k at the end, but Iβm being gentle with myself. In fact, if it was even possible Iβd turn off the distance tracker, because the real distance travelled is very personal and so amazingly brilliant. Nothing should take away that focus. I pack my running gear in my suitcase, wherever I go! And I run wherever I happen to be! Now thatβs pretty awesome! π±
And ladies, as promised, hereβs the photo in the shorts! Happy to say, I felt pretty good in them. It wasnβt as horrific as I imagined. Iβve noticed that Iβm shaping up a bit too. π
Runners, we are out there and donβt care! We are runners! One more session on Thursday, then roll on Saturday, my first Park run! β€οΈ

Too true, too much focus on the stats takes away from the real reason most of us run - because it just feel good, it just feels kinda right and it gives us our inner smile.
Looking fab!! Disappointed I have yet to run on my holiday but just so unbearably hot!! Still 31c at 9pm last night π and couldnβt bear getting up extra early this morning! May wait til Iβm back π¬
Well Flara! Iβm sure you understand π ....besides weβre in the middle of a busy town with little space to run. Wish there was a way of adding photos to messages without starting a new thread x
Thanks Gazloc! I started this to have some me time and determined to have plenty of fun too! I have no problem with laughing at myself and the audacity to say Iβm going to start running and my goodness Iβm doing just that! β€οΈ
Thanks Ang! 9am may be quite a challenge really, but if I have to walk a bit, Iβll do that! Hopefully it will be another surprise! I like those! ππβ€οΈ
You'll do really well! Might be there in Sept. Just too hot at the moment for me! Did 4k last night and almost melted. Aiming for just 30 mins on Thurs. Won't be getting to 5k this week!! Good luck!ππ
4K is a fantastic distance and in this heat! Go you runner!! ππ½ππ½ππ½! Would be great if you decide to do the run in September! Iβve just decided to give the Park run a go, as Saturday is my run day anyway. Again no pressure, itβs on every week, so there will be lots more opportunities later on too! Canβt believe that it will be post grad run 7... already. π―πβ€οΈ
Well.....we have debated a bit, courtesy of our Jay66UK about the attire that the ladies wear to run not being best suited for this weather. And unfortunately a lot of us ladies, didnβt want to show those bits weβre not so fond of. So, acutely aware of the fact that most of us discredit what others think is perfectly fine, we sort of gave each other the support to just do it! So that was me joining the βlady runners in shorts crewβ! βOut there, donβt careβ! ππΎββοΈππΎββοΈππΎββοΈβ€οΈ
Yay!! You look π blooming fab!! Shorts are just the best aren't they!! And you are certainly rocking a Runners look there!! High 5 to you Fabulous450 πππ Go you! π¬
Thank you so much Vix!! Looking forward to the Parkrun! Iβve enjoyed my time running on my own. But, it will be nice to experience running with others too! πβ€οΈ
Wowzer, you look as fab as your name! Runnings great isnβt it. Rest day for me and I pass by runners feeling jealous!!! Stay happy fabulous450!!! π
Thanks Dralimc! Oh I see some amazing runners out there, who just look like theyβre gliding! Canβt help but smile! Iβm not so graceful, but Iβm working on it! πβ€οΈ
Oh you can do it! This running malarkey is for us! There just happens to be other human beings out there to see us, but thatβs the donβt care bit! If you see me look away, beep beep...Iβm running!! π€£π€£β€οΈ
Oh, I take very few photos l3grj! I rarely like them to be honest, but itβs hopefully to join in some solidarity that we are all beautifully different. No matter our size and shape and looks, weβre runners. Iβm sure you look fabulous in your shorts!β€οΈ
"Distance travelled is very personal" I love that and indeed it is. I build "get outs" into most routes so that if I really don't feel I'm up to the initial intended distance I can easily change along the way π
Me too! I love my new coaches view in that you return a better version of yourself every time you go out there. Sticking to my own mantra though, getting out there warts and all! Hey, itβs not perfect but itβs me! Loving it! β€οΈ
I was thinking the same! I'll wear my 'Desert' t-shirt but leave the shorts to you
It's going to be so cool to meet the other forum locals - as and when they feel ready π
o goodness!!! You are absolutely beautiful! I love your crazy wonderful smile! It's so nice to see it. I am shaping up too. I have lost a pound in a few weeks and i need to lose about three more. I feel my joints and i know i need new running shoes. I am uo at seven as well. I will share photos when i go to los Angeles. I will be running in the sand......i am on week three run three. I feel heavy sometim.es. Do you?
Well done you on the weight loss!! ππ Oh yes, I do feel heavy and wrote about that many times.π But after a couple of minutes when you ease into it, Iβve also noticed that my body wakes up and lightens up. π Try not to push too hard Tabatha, I think of it as my body fine tuning to give me the strength and stamina I need for the run. Itβs smart, it knows what to do, so gently allow your body to do its thing! Thatβs probably equivalent to the go slow mantra we all share!
I hear running on sand can be a challenge, so do go slow! Youβre doing a brilliant job! Keep enjoying and well done!
Woo! Look at you in those shorts! You look amazing! You have now convinced me that there must be some shorts somewhere that will fit me and not look ridiculous - I just have to find them
Don't fret about the distance - as you put it so well, it is your personal distance that counts. Not too long ago I was reading Jay66UK's posts about how frustrated he was about not getting to 5k, and look at him now! The most important thing is that you are running and enjoying it - as you get fitter and fitter, you will gradually be able to run for longer or a little faster, and you will get there if it is something you want to achieve *hugs*
Enjoy the Parkrun on Saturday - I'm looking forward to hearing about it.
Oh thank you so much Eiralas!! Yes, we can wear shorts!! ππ Those shorts were my third attempt! First one resembled something a boxer would wear, except with so much gathering looked and felt like a barrel. π΅
Second Lycra number was waaay to short for my liking! Too out there for now! π³
Third simple, ever so cheap and perfect for my shape! Result! π
Distance?...definetly put that in Room 101 now! The scales needed the company! I have way too many benefits to make it an issue. Iβm not even trying to compete with myself, just compliment what already is. I have this whole new community of running friends along with the ability to run! What can I say, but thank you! Itβs also lovely to re-live those earlier runs alongside those coming up and know whatβs ahead too! Iβm kind of in running heaven!
So onwards to the Park run! Another adventure!
Glad to hear youβve been able to do a bit of running too! Recover well! Routing for you too! πβ€οΈ
I've managed to progress from jogging pants to leggings and now capri pants ( or 3/4 leggings as my mum would have called them, lol). Don't think I'm quite ready for the 'shorts' yet, but heading in the right direction, ha, ha.
Thank you!! Go Jan, that describes my progression to shorts exactly too! I tried a few, so keep looking. The right ones will be out there with your name on it. Iβll still be in my leggings and capriβs, but the shorts did feel good yesterday! β€οΈ
