I have just finished my first run of week 5 - if I say finish I mean, I really struggled and run 5 min - 4 min 3-1 min break-1 min . Do you think I should repeat the run?

Also a friend joined me this morning she is in a much better shape that I am. I felt very discouraged and I think I might have been able to finish would I have been by myself anyone else the same experience?

I think you may have gone too fast to keep up with your friend. If you would like to repeat it I would. Remember it’s a slow jog at a pace you can still comfortably hold a conversation. Whenever you do struggle go even slower. As long as your moving forward pace doesn’t matter. It’s easy to get carried away and want to run like other people but at this stage it’s about building strength and stamina.

As Sham19 says it is possible you went too fast today to keep up with your friend. Have a rest day then try it again and keep it slow . Good luck 😊

I can't imagine running with anyone else, bad enough indulging in vanity running when I see someone!

Yes, I would repeat if you didn't complete, the running breaks are almost over, but this run will have added a fair bit to your strength and stamina 😊

I ran with a friend for the first time last week. He runs half marathons and marathons. I just said 'ignore me I'm going to go at my own pace'. Put my headphones in and ran slowly while he overtook me. We were running round a track so we did exchange a few words and did the warm up and cool down walks together. I would suggest that you could go out together but do your own thing!
