Completed Week 5 run 3 today and feeling really good! Managed the 20min run no problem. I kept it really slow as I was desperate to finish this time having been beaten by the 20 min run a couple of years ago. I think I only ran 2.5 km though. Should I push it a bit more on the distance?
Third time was lucky! Week 5 run 3 : Completed... - Couch to 5K
Third time was lucky! Week 5 run 3

FANTASTIC!!!! Very well done to you..20 mins is one heck of a time!!! Well done on not setting off like a greyhound too 😛

and no…no pushing
Hi there distance comes in time all you’re doing now is building up time and getting used to that. Although I’m starting again for various complex reasons, the one thing I know is once you’ve done the 30 minute run at the end and consolidate you tend naturally to run just a bit faster so in the same time you’re doing more distance.
I always think of it as being a Learner Driver - you have the basic driving skills, but not at speed until you’ve passed your test and been driving for a while.
Please don’t pressurise yourself with thoughts of having to be faster etc C25k is all about 5k or 3O minutes of continuous running. Achieving either of these measures is the real prize. Good luck

Woohooo!!! I wouldn’t worry about how far you run in the set time. Much more important is to simply put in your running time which builds your running legs and habits.
So, well done!!! You can be super proud of yourself!!!

Congratulations to you Hen567 on completing run 3 of week 5, that is a milestone run with C25K, onwards and upwards to week 6 run 1 but be careful about that run as it catches out some people with the interval walks and runs after the non stop 20 minutes of W5R3 which you have just ran slowly, well done ✔️

well done. 20 mins is quite a jump. I am on week 5 run 2 today. I’m apprehensive about run 3 so lovely to hear from you about your success

My very rusty maths suggests that when and if you run for 30mins at that same pace, you will be doing around 3.75km . Perfect. So no, don’t push yourself, a pace that doesn’t make you uncomfortable and gasping is great. You are building stamina now, distance and speed can wait until you have established the running ability.

Once you stop worrying about distance your whole mindset changes. 7 years on I still can’t run 5k in 30 mins but I can run for 40 mins without stopping. The upside of this is improved blood flow, stronger core, better balance, stronger legs, better lung capacity and quicker recovery rate. Your overall fitness is so much more important than distance. Good luck and keep on going - you are doing great

Celebrate and reward yourself! That run is a milestone on the programme.
Absolutely do not push during the programme. As someone here likes to say: Slow and Steady!
You'll have time to work out new goals once you've completed the programme and you'll find that your consistency in running three times a week will improve your pace and distance.
Keep us posted on Week 6! You'll be heading back to intervals and that surprises folks sometime.
