Hi all. This will be my third or fourth attempt to start this. All previous attempts have failed through calf injuries. This time it's different. First day out sure enough 2/3's if the way round the calf muscle goes. But this time I got myself some KT. Tape. What a difference it made. Managed to get out again a few days later, very cautiously, but completed the full 30 minutes. Never felt more relieved. Looking forward to the next 8 weeks.
This time for sure....: Hi all. This will be my... - Couch to 5K
This time for sure....
It sounds like this has been a real journey. Well done. I think your determination is great and glad you’ve found something that helps.
Thanks for the comment, My determination is coming not only from wanting to get healthy, but from my daughter who is coming home from spending 2 years studying in Singapore. She's a jogger and I am really wanting to go running with her. Probably about 6 weeks into the plan, but I'm sure she'll be patient with me.
You must be so excited to have her coming home. Extra wind under your wings 😍
My problem just now is restraint. I know if I push myself too far I will fail. I can honestly say I have never enjoyed myself as much as I do when jogging. So it's being strict with myself and following the plan.
Good for you for keeping at it, that's so inspiring.
I'm sure you've done all your homework but check out your technique. There are some brilliant links here and YouTube videos. No heal striking, reaching out in front or slapping the ground.
Good luck 👍
Welcome to the forum and well done on
getting restarted.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
Be kind to yourself, especially with a history of injury, and keep your pace down and follow the advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and knee strengthening.
Enjoy your journey.
Well done! Try some toe raises to strengthen the calf and then some stretches.
Oh so frustrating when something stops you running and enjoying it, glad you have fount a solution, take an extra rest day if needed and wishing you the best runs ever
Rest seem to be inportant. I need to make sure I take them.
