Missed today’s run

Feeling like a bit of a failure today, my fibromyalgia got the better of me yesterday and although I’m feeling a fair bit better today, I didn’t want to run. So I didn’t. Hoping I make it out to run tomorrow instead.

Chin up! I also have fibro although it’s mild for the most part. Keep going when you can, it’s all good! I played 2 games of bowling at the weekend and have been suffering all week... should have known better, but it was fun at the time! Onward and upward!

Thank you Gotthis and agirlinwinter. I’m just frustrated with myself as much as anything. I always knew before starting this it was going to be an issue at times, but I’m so determined that I need to get my fitness levels up to help combat the fibro. It’s generally been a tough week. A lot of abnormal stress at work, including extra hours, losing a day off, and then having to go out in the evening after what was already a damaging day health wise, because I didn’t want to let my kids down with the a promise I’d made to them. Somehow managed nearly 20k steps that one day. 3x my normal amount.

I’m sorry to hear you are also a fibro sufferer Gotthis,

And I’m sorry to hear your mum has recently been diagnosed agirlinwinter.

Sounds like you have a lot of determination and I’m sure you will succeed! I think even if you didn’t have fibro it would have been tough to go running after such a day/week! Look after yourself and come back fighting!

Oh no sorry to hear that. Don’t beat yourself up. My mum was recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia and I’ve seen how much it has affected her. Look after yourself and you can try again when you feel better.

Don’t beat yourself up over it... running is part of life, but sometimes the best run is no run. You had a tough day yesterday with your condition, and probably not just a run that couldn’t be done... so today is about just being able to do more than yesterday and being happy to be feeling a better... the run will love you just as much tomorrow.

Thank you UnfitNoMore. I just struggle sometimes with the limitations this illness puts on me. And having found I love getting out there and running and that I CAN do it, but haven’t been able to manage today, just feels like a kick in the teeth I guess.

Thank you for your supportive words. They are appreciated

So you needed an extra rest day? So what! Get out tomorrow if you can - and if you need to do something less intense for a few days who cares. Beating yourself up is so easy and so futile. Running is for joy not pain.

Thank you BestLife19. You’re right. Hopefully by Sunday evening I’ll have another run under my belt.

Absolutely not a failure.

We all have to be sensible. There are times when we simply need extra rest days, or when life just gets in the way.

There is a massive difference between making an excuse not to run, and not being able to run.

You are really going to do well at this, I know you are.

Just dont stress over the small things. You'll do this!

We're not all starting from the same place (though like many others wk1 R1 nearly destroyed me 🤣). And we will not all end up in the same place.

5k isnt important. 9 weeks isnt important.

The only thing that really matters, is getting out there and getting fitter an healthier.

C25K is a framework that we all need to adapt so that it works for us and our situation.

Bluecat9, you CAN do this. Dont stress about how long it takes.

Remember that nobody here is judging you or putting pressure on you. We're all here to support you.

Bluecat9 - keep going! I am a graduate but I let fibromyalgia get the better of me and so regret it! all I can say is keep running and if you can’t run walk! That’s my plan this year - running can’t suit everyone but walking / moving is essential! I still walk a lot and occasionally burst into run but it’s to easy to give up! You’ve got this! Just adapt! 🏃‍♀️👍

Thank you Pancakes. I’m just about to attempt a run now. Not sure I’ll do the full thing but need to get myself out there and do something. Maybe aim for 3 60 sec runs and see how I feel from there.

Good luck with your walking and running. Good to talk to another Fibro-Warrior.
