Week 1 run 2

A good second run. Slightly harder than the first, but still ok.

I'm concentrating on what I'm doing with my feet. I had shinsplints quite a lot when I tried running, 20 (oh my god) years ago. So I'm keen to avoid them again. Running on grass is not an option, as I run in the evenings, and it is greasy and dark at this time of the year. I had a treadmill a while back, and ran with a toe strike, but I'm not sure if that is doable in the real world. So I'm going for a fairly flat outside of the heel strike, rolling onto the forefoot asap. Seems ok so far, but open to suggestions...

Stops you getting injured, and as the runs get longer that’s the aim, and even if it’s really slow in the beginning you will be nicely surprised later on that what feels slow is faster than it used to be

I have a sore calf and today ran very slowly for two and half kilometers now back last May we couldn’t even run a minute without feeling exhausted

Have fun because the running and health benefits will make you smile loads

Just run however it feels right for you... try to land lightly...I call it kissing the ground with your feet!

Slow and steady is the mantra... and with the lighter days and nights coming you will be able to run on softer terrain :)

Are your shoes and socks the right ones also ?

I think shoes are ok for now, and just treated myself to some Hilly socks after my first run. I don't have a problem at the moment - just being cautious. Following C25K means I'm doing this differently to the past, and I think the slow and steady approach will see me all right.

Not what you're looking for?
