W8 R1 sooooo tired! Thinking about Parkrun?

These last 2 runs seem to have wiped me out for the rest of the day! I have been checking out my local parkrun route...thinking about maybe trying it but I am very slow, managed 3.5km in my 28 min run today. Parkrun volunteer spotted me today and was very friendly and encouraging but I worry I will be tempted to run faster with other people. I am deliberately keeping my strides short to reduce my knee pain from arthritis, just hoping with more practice I will gradually get faster?

Make sure you're eating well and keeping well hydrated still 2-3 litres of water per day and not just on run days.

There is no too slow , it is what will get you to the end of each run and prevent injury.

Parkrun is for everyone regardless of pace so go and enjoy it.

Good luck and well done 🤗🤗

Thanks, I definitely need to keep an eye on how much I am drinking. More water and less coffee 😂

How about you start your parkrun with the 5 minute warm up walk - that way all the speedy ones are out of the way before you start - leaving you free to set your own pace. There are walkers and run walkers at my park run and the trail walker (the volunteer who finishes last) generally finishes in about an hour so there is plenty of time for you to get round - finally you only scam your barcode at the end so if you want to finish early you can

Buddy is right, there is no such thing as too slow. Take it easy and check out Japanese slow running on YouTube 👍

Oh, I just looked at a slow running video... This is like me, I am this slow! OK, I will slow back down🙂

Honestly, it got me through with no injuries. I'm only really starting to increase my speed now. You have the time to do this.

Good luck 👍

I don't think I have much choice about the slow and steady. First 10 mins is painful and I am barely faster than walking. I managed to increase my speed today by focusing on keeping my cadence up (think that's the right word), I got a little further in my 28 mins and was bright red like a tomato 🥵😂
