Hi everyone, this is my first post. I’m looking for some advice. I have been on the IC with an ankle sprain and haven’t run for 7 weeks. I’ve been seeing a sports therapist and today was given the all clear to run again 😁 I had completed W7 R2 before being struck down. I’m so pleased that I can get out again but a little nervous too. Should I start from the beginning? Any advice would be appreciated.

Great that you're allowed to run again. Why don't you go out for a slow gentle run , no pressure just enjoy . See what you can comfortably manage and take it from there. Good luck and let us know how you get on 🤗

Thanks Buddy, I’ll give it a go in the morning. I’m really looking forward to getting out again. Will let you know how it goes 👍🏻

Seven weeks is quite a while for your poor ankle. I would think about trying one of the earlier runs to see how it feels, then progress back through the weeks as quickly as you feel comfortable (not necessarily doing every run) - play it by ear. Presumably you've been doing ankle strengthening exercises with the sports therapist, but there are also lots of ideas in the foot and ankle post in the Strength and flex forum healthunlocked.com/strength......

Good luck!

Thanks Linda. The therapist has been brilliant and I have lots of exercises to do, but will check out the link you sent, it will all help build back up. I have also been told I have hyper mobile ankles, so any strengthening will be useful. I’m going to go for gait analysis this weekend. The new trainers will be my reward for my patience over the last few weeks 😀

Just take it steady, if in doubt do less not more. You'll get back up to where you were before you know it 👍🏻😊

Thanks for your advice, will definitely take it easy and see how I feel. So looking forward to getting back out there, don’t want to risk another stint on the IC!
