I went back to se the physio today after two weeks of ankle excercises, bike and cross training at the gym. I've been doing the excercises he gave me, diligently and been really strict with myself and guess what? It paid off!

I've to start back slowly, on the treadmill at first to see how it is but he said he can see no reason why I shouldn't start running outside again soon. He said to keep the ankle strengthening excercises as part of my routine to avoid another injury. I am we'll chuffed!

I'm off to the gym now to try it out..... Yippee!

Good luck Gridlet, it may take some time but my ankle healed too and I am doing better and longer runs than I did before my injury.

Don't worry if it still aches, mine did but I have no pain at all now.

Thanks Burstcouch! I've just got back now. I warmed up with a 5 minute walk and then jogged slowly for 20 minutes and it was fine. Glad your ankle has healed. I'm hoping to follow in your footsteps and become stronger than before.

Thanks magster! It's such a relief, I didn't think I could enjoy a run on the treadmill so much!

Thanks Phil, how are you doing?

in reply to Gridlet

Ok thanks, been out a few times, shorter runs and playing it by ear. On the whole fine but still have a niggling doubt that everything is getting better, so I may still bite the bullet and go to see the sports therapist.

But no matter what, I am listening carefully to my body :-)
