Running with my daughter!

Finished C25K about a month ago and have been running a few times a week. Then my twelve-year-old daughter unexpectedly said she'd like to run with me and we signed up for a Race for Life this summer and started at week one again together. Here we are after our week two run this morning. She's bounding off way ahead of me and full of enthusiasm, so hope it lasts as she's always said she hates PE/sport etc. Another great outcome of doing C25K :)

Aw great stuff Glud!!!!! Lovely photo of you and your girl. These girls can!!!!! Lovely jubbly

I think she'll keep up. Kids don't like being outrun by parents.

Have a great time!

Oh its just the best running with them isn't it? I did it with my son ( 13) , and he has taken to running big time. His 5k PB is 22.10!!! well done to both of you :)

That is fantastic! and a lovely photo too. I did it with my daughter last year and it was brilliant and very emotional! Long may it continue and really hope she has found her love of of sport through your inspiration. Good luck! x

Fab photo :) I started running because my kids were doing junior parkrun. This morning we ran around the 2k in the rain holding hands jumping in the puddles - it was brilliant! More so because I knew that before Christmas I wouldn't have been able to do it. You just hope you are setting them up for a lifetime of healthy habits. The sense of achievement my kids get from it is amazing. Enjoy it and long may it continue. Let us know how she is getting on :)

That sounds brilliant at parkrun - perfect family times! I'm so pleased to be feeling so much fitter and doing this sort of thing

Thats lovely.

I'm trying to persuade mine (girls, aged 12 and 14) to come out with me sometime but not getting very far with it!!

in reply toDebih191

My daughter started off coming along on her rollerblades and my son on his bike. Maybe you can try persuading them that sort of way? Also my daughter got interested in the apps, so having her own C25K and Strava. Good luck!

I love it when the kids join me. Lovely to be able to share something like this with them. She's going to be great at running in PE it will give her confidence.

in reply toAniaParky

Yes, she said she thinks she'll be better at PE. A lot of it does come down to confidence and enthusiasm too, doesn't it?
