So, I thought I’d post this here as it’s useful information for all runners at all levels.
This evening I hit the treadmill for my run as parkrun was cancelled this morning. Drove to the gym and was already in running gear so just needed to swap my shoes in the car park and go.
The run was great early on, but my feet started to feel a little different the longer I ran... I slowed down and my left foot felt strange, speeded up and my right foot felt strange... got to the end of my run and was so pleased that it was over.
On a treadmill I can run comfortably in my road shoes, and also in my trail shoes... but it turns out that having one of each on is not good! Next time I might put the light on in the back of the car while I change 🤣🤣
Happy running everyone!

I was in a hurry one day and put on two pairs of shoes, one for the right foot was black, the one for the left foot was white, not running shoes, I keep them in a separate box from my ordinary trainers, I only noticed after 10 minutes of walking,🤣
That day I was doing my weekly shopping, not many people there as it was only 8am, it only happened once, won't happen again. 😊
Very stylish AM! I rather think that mix of colours would have looked better out on the dance floor than in the supermarket! But, worn with confidence, you could get away with it anywhere!
I used to be a sprinter at running when I was at Primary School, I remember one day when I was at Secondary School the gym teacher asked us boys to strip to the waist and run around the 400 metre track just outside the school once, the quicker we got round it the quicker we would get out of the cold, the temperature was around - 2C/28F.
I think I was first back, strangely enough that run in 1961 was the last long run I ran until last year when I ran 20 minutes of W5R3 of C25K.
I am trying to stay calm and not think about times, but to be honest that’s not easy. You spend a lot of time warming up and your hoping for an improvement.
I’m just surprised that nobody at the gym questioned me.
It took me a fair few attempts to get past 5 minutes on the treadmill... I even hit stop and ran home once. Now I can do 90 minutes so Kong as there’s a decent soundtrack in my ears... or the football is on.
We grin a lot while running but laugh a lot the rest of the time
As to my trainers for work my best friend who never notices if i cut and color my hair noticed that one was white and pink and one was white and mauve not even a lot of difference
Strange what people miss and what they notice... last year I had 3 feet of hair and a beard... shaved it all off midweek and at parkrun my mate eventually notices something is different and says “oh! You shaved your beard off!” Which was the least obvious of the two.
Yes very funny, i had a disaster in the shower room at work one morning clothes got soaked, ran downstairs grabbed some joggers and a teeshirt out the lost property and thought no one would notice, absolutely everyone commented that i looked like a clown as they were short and wide and i didn’t think anyone noticed what i wore
I remember turning up to fix a customers computer in a three piece suit and their system admin looked at me strangely... I went to the loo and got changed into jeans and a t-shirt and when he saw me he said “thank god, I thought they’d sent us someone to make us feel supported, but now I see that you’re here to actually fix it”
Mines falling out fast from the psoriasis drugs so no more pretty colors and people just keep saying lucky you had such a lot to start with, roll on January when i can hopefully start reducing drugs and growing hair back,
Here’s the thing... my tracker asked which shoes I was wearing but would only take one answer... you think I need to wear the opposite shoes and redo the run? 🤣
Well... pride heals, and then I figured I’m the sharing type, why should I be the only one laughing at me? Yeah, legs are feeling great... may not have done if I’d made this mistake for my HM.
"I cried because I had no shoes - then I laughed because I saw UNM...." 😅
Seriously, I think we've all done something like that One morning I was so out of it I put on my regular shoes instead - and didn't realise it for quite a few yards
While they were of the trainers look, they were FAR heavier and highsided I was in such a mental fog that morning that even though I had put the rest of my kit onni automatically put on my "usual" shoes.
The embarrassing bit - Running shoes were Gray with green stripes, regular shoes all black! To mix them up... 😂
I’m wondering how many people noticed... they already see me as strange as I run on the treadmill throughout some of their entire visits while they use the treadmill for a few minutes as part of their circuits.
I actually have a pair of odd shoes for work. They are very similar only one has 4 eye holes and the other 5. Only noticed after a couple of years when I had to put new laces in. Obviously the assistant in the shop hadn't noticed they'd put together an odd pair from the one out front on display and the one in the box. I didn't notice either. 8+ years on, I still have them.
I think I will have to follow your example and start to use the treadmill, or maybe invest in warmer clothes. My legs felt cold and stiff when I was out running yesterday. Fortunately it didn't affect my 5k time! 🏃♀️
