So I thought I was fairly fit, then I started going to rugby training. The years of swimming and pilates to get over an operation on my back, had kept me flexible and at a relative level of fitness, but when your pushing 50 and surrounded by 20 and 30 year olds running round a rugby pitch, it certainly highlighted my lack of aerobic fitness.
Monday 4th November I started my Couch to 5k journey. I took my young dog along too, she was definitely more excited than I was to be up and running at 6:30am. It was a good session, I felt comfortable and the dog did her business during a walking section so that was good.
I was happy with how it went for the first day, only slightly out of breath after running and comfortable before the next running section started again thanks to the walking break.
All in all very happy and confident this is gonna work.

As someone of about the same age, who as a referee is constantly having to keep up with players 20-30 years younger than me (and I don't get to lie down and take a rest every few meters), and having graduated back in May, I think I can relate to everything you're going through right now.
I got there and am now typically running 20-25 each week and giving the 20-somethings a run for their money into the bargain.
