Post pneumonia recovery

Hi

I graduated a while ago, did a couple of 5k runs with no problem, and then a month ago I got pneumonia (ended up at hospital). I am slowly recovering with the help of an inhaler, can now walk for 15 mins without being breathless / coughing fit. Does anyone know how long will it take for me to be able to start the programme again!

Shame you were ill and great that you're slowly recovering. I don't think you can put a time limit on when you will be fit enough to run . I have seen what pneumonia can do to a person and it just takes a while to get better. Keep up with your walking for now. Only you will know when you're feeling 100 %. Good luck and get well soon 😊😊😊

I can understand that you are frustrated because you're unable to run. Your health is more important and you will be back running at some point. 😊😊

Sorry about your pneumonia Calmack, as you are a graduate it will depend on how long you have been off running. If its more that 4 months it's better to restart at week 1, not so long, perhaps week 3, I just hope that you can resume running as soon as possible after the all clear from your doctor.

Hi AlMorr, thanks - I was running up to a week before the first symptoms so roughly 6 weeks ago. Although I did struggle on that 5k run, having to gasp for breath. I’m due to have a follow up x-ray in the next 2 weeks so will ask my Doctor when those results are back. Thanks again
