Why is this first 90 seconds such a struggle? Hmmm why is the first 90 seconds taking so long.
Then I hear Michael tell me to start my second run. I haven't finished my first one yet! Another technical malfunction with sound.
So, thinking on my feet and quick adjustment. I've run through my first run and first walk. So now I walk through my second run and 2/3 of my second walk. By the half way bell, order is restored and I'm back on track. I could really do without this nonsense though. I think for my next run, I'll just go without music.
And another tick in the box for me too. My first run in the rain. Which brought home to me how much a really NEED some proper running gear. Just a Ron Hill running jacket alone, isnt going to cut it in this weather.
Did I enjoy it? Well, you know those old black and white Christmas movies, where the family are in the living room with the roaring log fire, all dry and warm and they are looking out through huge windows onto a scene of pretty snow covered ground with big snow flakes falling from the sky. Well, my hope is that with the right gear, that's how I will feel, that rain can be falling all around me, but I'll stay warm and dry and feel exhilarated by my run. Until then, I'll just be a wet, cold, miserable drown rat who just wants to get home for his morning coffee
Have a great weekend everybody.

Great effort. I ran with the downloads so the music and instructions were all included so no faffing working out what to do, what music etc. Having said that it's been lovely since graduation just running. No music no instructions brilliant
Great to just run only thinking where to go to avoid traffic and hills, bliss. You will get there this is such a great plan. Dont worry about speed or distance while doing the plan, just follow the instructions and put one foot in front of the other. Have a great weekend
I second that, I too, used the podcasts and not the app, the last couple of times I was outside running I didn't listen to any music, I did, kind of, miss it but not enough to put the headset on
You made me laugh π Thank you. At least my tech worked well and I have Michaelβs voice to tell me I can do it too! I had on hat, gloves and that was a good call!!! No rain for me just big wind π¨
I just got some cheap things from Aldi. I suspect I'll only be wearing them for the first 5 minutes until I fully warm up. I just cant do with cold hands!
Well done for getting out there in the rain! β I had a few app fails and wet runs before graduation which at the time were quite frustrating but comical π
Some of my runs have no internet access, so I have no choice but to run without music or instruction.
You're doing great! You had the determination and the motivation to get out there this morning in the rain and run! Some of my best runs before graduation were done without music and that's pretty much how I like to run now. π
I know and itβs early days for you but the time flies you could end up living from run to run and suddenly you feel fitter and stronger, good luck and enjoy your journey
Oooooh dear! π - you really made me chuckle! Well done for all that simultaneous running and recalibrating! π
Running in the rain... I love it, (I was the only person on my muddy field track yesterday π€) - but I only love it if two boxes are ticked ...
1: I wear a breathable, light rainproof jacket ( over appropriate layers) so my torso is warm & dryish.
2: I wear a running cap which keeps the rain off my glasses & my head warm.
I did once have the interesting experience of running in the rain in a thick woolly hat - I had the heaviest head ever by the end - but still warm! π
... but you have chosen a good time of year ( once you have organised clothes that keep you comfy) - next summer when you are running & sweltering, you will be longing for winter! π
Great story, much better to read than to experience π Iβm not worried about getting wet myself, itβs my phone (in a plastic bag), my earphones (which are supposedly waterproof but I canβt quite trust it), and my Garmin, which is so precious that even though quite obviously you must be able to wear it running in the rain, Iβm terrified itβll get knackered! ππ€¦πΌββοΈπ
Well done mate, you're moving onwards. Showing off too, running an extra 2 minutes and doing mental arithmetic at the same time, that really is multi-tasking! I certainly cope better with the distraction of music and was originally relying on the podcasts for that, but thought I'd be even more distracted with stuff that I know (and I was) but now I need to find something I know that's less beats per minute, I think/hope I ran too fast today because of how I felt at the end! It was my first run in the rain today too, I have a cheap waterproof cycling jacket which kept my top warm & dry and luckily the rain wasn't too heavy so although my leggings got wet, I wasn't uncomfortable. My to has a zip and even in the rain, It was completely un-zipped after my 2nd, 3rd & 4th runs to cool me down! I also start off wearing gloves, but these soon end up in my jacket pockets and so far have managed without a hat. Regarding clothing, don't forget that Aldi have running clobber in their Special Buys tomorrow, there could be something suitable for you there. Keep up the good work, and please carry on with the entertaining posts!
I had a similar problem yesterday with the app/music, and ended up switching the music off. Well done for going out in the weather this morning, boy it looked mucky, gazing out from my warm front room π
Well at least the coffee gives you some motivation to run... Well done on getting out there and working out how to restore order. I did most of c25k without music or headphones and quite enjoyed that. well done!
Haha... no, I did have an old cotton t-shirt underneath. But that was then. I've got got a posh new 'proper' running top to go underneath it..... big shot!! π
