I have been training for a couple weeks only because doing this 2.8Km charity run/walk on Sat. I so want to run/jog it. I can run consecutively for ages indoors! As soon as I'm outside I slow down to a walk after a block for a few seconds. I have been beating myself up about it all night! I am not impressed. what is that all about!!?
Week 4 run 2: I have been training for a couple... - Couch to 5K
Week 4 run 2
Hi kimia10 👋 Welcome & a great decision to train! Running outside is a bit different. However my guess is that you are probably running too fast because of the pressure of the charity event. Are you drinking enough fluid in both rest and run days? Don’t despair and beat yourself up. You are still building up fitness! Look up Japanese slow running! It may help you. Enjoy Saturday!! 👍🎈
When you're running indoors the treadmill is keeping your pace the minute you are outside you are in charge. So at your charity run on Saturday keep it really slow and if you're feeling breathless slow some more. Good luck 😊
This may not be your problem, but before I started C25K I had some sort of phobia (and I don't know where it came from) about running. I'd set myself a simple goal, just run to the next lamppost for example. I'd do just a few steps, my chest would tighten and I'd have to stop because I 'knew' I couldn't run that far, yet if it was raining, and I had to run around a car park to my car, I could do it because I wasn't looking at (what I thought was) the impossible task of covering that distance. Years ago I did try treadmill running and still struggled (due to a lack of fitness), but could get far further. Just my thoughts...
Someone at work mentioned the lamp post thing! wow. I will try it. After my charity run I plan on finishing this C25K! Stubborn and determination I have :))
Hi all, just double checking, on app you have Weeks then Runs that week. So for example wk 4 run 1. I have to do run 1 x3, run 2 x3 and run 3 x3? Thank you 👍😁
nevermind I listened properly this time and answered my own question :))
