Week 2 in the bag

So, despite being only 2 weeks in I'm surprised at how much I rely on routine to get my runs done. I started on a Saturday and so mentally I consider a new week to start on a Saturday and therefore I want my 3 runs done by a Thursday at the latest.

I'd written today off as I'd been up most of the night thanks to the thunder, lightening and a scared 7 year old daughter but as the day went on I felt quite energetic and thought I should take advantage of that! By 7.30pm I had completed week 2, run 3 and it feels goooooooooooooooooood. I've no idea if I'll make it to week 9 and I take each run as it comes but I am feeling so accomplished right now. From someone who never, ever ran I am now running (albeit with walking inbetween) 3 times a week and actually enjoying it! For me, I don't think I realised how much I needed to switch off from hubby and the kids so when I'm running I plug in my cheesy music (which they all hate), and shut the world out. That half hour is all mine. Pure bliss. I have come to realise that's one of my biggest motivators.

I had no idea that 'me time' would end up being what pushed me to get off my backside and out the door.

Hey welcome to 'me time' club, isn't it lovely and so unexpected.... Cheesy music rules and you know what if you've done Week 2 you will do the rest. Old floss always says to 'kiss the ground' (with your feet) as it helps save energy. Sometimes I could kiss the ground literally when a run went well. Well done you, keep running

I have (oh my god, I can't even believe I'm admitting this!!) Burning Heart by Survivor (from the Rocky films), Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now by Starship and (brace yourself) Rabbit by Chas n Dave - but in my defence it's because that song makes me laugh. If I admit to anything else on the playlist I've no doubt I'll be banned from the forum!

Is it White Wedding by Billy Idol? Love that song!

So you have out cheesed me. Rabbit wins hands down. But yes WW is Billy - I even snarl like he does.... worst one though Walk Like An Egyptian and yes I do the sand dance hand thing. Thank God I am in Italy and my UK friends don't see it! ;)

I know exactly how you feel. I've only done my first run today but the me time was great.

Don't get me wrong, I love my family dearly but half an hour of sweat and burning legs was just what was needed. Love taking my brain out.

My cheesy music is ministry of sound best of trance. Think I might have ran too fast, might choose something more mellow for run 2!!!

Blimey that's not cheese, I aspire to have that kind of music taste....

My first run was the foo fighters & I think I went off too fast too, now being a Nashville fan, I go between Nashville soundtrack, fratellis, a bit of country/blues and my next run is The editors (as recommended by this forum) personally to slow me down I love the Nashville soundtrack - gotta love Deacon Claybourne singing to me 😍😍

My cheese collection is only allowed to be played via wifi 😂😂

Fratellis - Chelsea Dagger gets me running fast, but with a very weird cadence. Foo Fighters on my list to add, but as last time I tried I ended up listening to the same 3 downloads, I'm leaving it a while.

Well done - me time is switch off time - I have started doing my run after work to turn off my brain.

My cheesy music for completion of w1 r3 tonight was a bit of Nile Rodgers and Chic .

I’ve just completed week 2 and am really enjoying it too. Although my “me time” has been kidnapped by my teenager daughter deciding she would do it with me!
