Just completed my last run of week 9! Did 5.29km in 41 minutes which considering I could barely go for 1 minute on the first run is not bad for an old bird (54)! Feeling quite pleased with myself and to all those who are just starting...keep going...if I can do it, so can you! Will keep going to get my time down...maybe go for 10k now π

Well done. That's about the pace I set when I graduated. Now it's all about adding the miles to those legs. If you continue to run 3x a week, try stretching one out by 500m or 5mins at a time (at the same sort of pace as you did that one in (or slightly slower) and you will see the speed on your shorter runs improve.
Just remember your rest days, and it's good to take the occasional week off just to give your muscles some sustained repair and recovery time.
