Week 4 Run 2

So I got my lazy butt out of bed early this morning and did this run as I have been absolutely dreading it! And I didn’t want it hanging over me all day.

I feel amazing now it’s done but the very last run was torture!!

I’ll be glad when this week is over! I’m just not enjoying the running at all. But definitely enjoying the feeling afterwards!!

Hope everyone is well!!

Well done! Sometimes just getting out there and getting on with it is the best thing.

And hopefully you will start to enjoy it more over the coming weeks too!

Good morning Susan, I am so glad that you "enjoyed" your run today, week 4 is really complicated with all those different times for walks and runs, you have one more run/walk to do for week 4, if you wish you could have two days off before running that last one of week 4. Good for you on getting up this morning and running it.

Morning I was just wondering how you were getting on. Well done, great effort. The high of the endorphins after are worth effort1😉

Well done.

If you are dreading every run, finding them torture and not enjoying this at all, then something needs to change, otherwise you will not persist with this long term.

When you run, can you speak aloud, clear ungasping sentences as you run? If not, you are going too fast.

Slower speed, at your easy conversational pace ( not someone else's) builds stamina, strength and enjoyment. Pushing hard all the time is the sign of a rookie runner and will lead to burn out, increase your injury risk and if you don't enjoy it, abandonment of running as a healthy pastime.

This might help healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Relax and enjoy this...........it should not be torture.

In all honesty I am incredibly unfit, overweight and unhealthy. I can barely walk at a normal pace without gasping and being able to speak in sentences. I know the more weight I lose the easier this will be. (I’m talking bmi of over 42)

I am trying to enjoy it! And I 100% enjoy the feeling once I have completed the run which I guess. As Buddy says, spurs me on and gets me through my next run.

I am now running on a treadmill which is easier for me to fit the runs in, but obviously that’s pretty boring too. I do listen to music and try to occupy my mind but feel I sometimes try to hard to occupy my mind and then end up not doing so lol. I’m only jogging at a pace of 5mph and I tried to decrease but almost few I’m falling over my feet as I’m going too slow

I definitely feel doing this helps my mental health and that’s huge for me! So I really am trying my best to keep at it. Keep to my 3 days and stay focused. I am just hoping the more I achieve the more I enjoy it! Fingers crossed anyway! And a huge thanks for your link. I am happy to take any advice I can get!

Remember that great feeling when you complete a run and let it spur you on to the next and keep you going. Well done you 😊😊

To be honest, I don't think I started to enjoy the actual running until I completed Week 5. But I loved the feeling of achievement (OK, smugness!) after each run - that kept me going in the earlier weeks. ☺
