Can anyone recommend really good running shoes for a beginner? I'm over 14 stone, have wide feet and I'm very unfit. When I'm in the shop the shoes I buy feel good but within a few wears start to cramp my feet.

Trying to find a comfortable running shoe.
I’d be interested in this too - sounds like me. I know it’s recommended to go for gait analysis after around 4 weeks, but I don’t want to spend a large amount of money until I’m at least a few months into running and know I’m likely to keep it up......
I have decreased right ankle mobility so have to wear super comfortable trainers or I get cramp in my right food and pain in my calve muscle atm I’ve adidas xx Climacool fresh bounce orange trainers but they are now becoming rare to find so I’ve gone for karrimor prob spelt wrong ladies run trainers in sale at sports direct x
These are my thoughts on buying running shoes healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
The shoes that suit one person may be wholly inappropriate for you. In my opinion gait analysis is the only safe way to buy your first pair of running shoes, otherwise you may run the risk of wasting money and even injury.
Gait analysis is the only way forward for any wannabe runner or princess 😊
What others wear is irrelevant to your needs. Comfy shoes & runners socks are the beginning of a fantastic journey to a fabulous new you! 🏃♀️
Google gait analysis near me to see if there is any shops nearby. It doesn't have to be the the newest model you buy you can go for last year's trainer and it's so much cheaper. I can't recommend a pair of trainers as what fits me may not be right for you. Good luck 😊
I second Iannoda’s thoughts. I’m getting back into running after 5 years off (and plenty of kg heavier). For now I’m running in the same brand of neutral shoe I used successfully for years, but once I get further into the programme I’m planning to visit a specialist running shop and get my gait analysed again, since the extra weight is likely to be exaggerating any “faults” in my technique.
As others have said, what suits them may not suit you. May I suggest you find your local running shop and go for the gait analysis; set yourself a price target and tell the shop what it is. Many people, me included, go at least one size up as feet can swell when they get hot. It feels weird but I’ve had to return shoes which ‘felt ok in the shop’ but when I got home I had second thoughts. Clever lacing will stop your feet moving around (who knew there was more than one way to lace shoes!). If the shop doesn’t have anything to suit you, the gait analysis will help you when you go elsewhere as you’ll know what to look for - but I’m sure there’s a pair out there which will fit!
I have really wide feet and love my Saucony Peregrines. Someone on here recommended them as good trail shoes and I found a bargain brand new pair on ebay!
