Hello everyone. Just completed Week 5 yesterday and I am bursting to do my first Run of Week 6 tomorrow. I have decent NB running trainers but they're quite old and I think it's time to invest in a new pair. Can anyone advise on a great pair of running shoes? Thanks!

Unfortunately no one can recommended you shoes. As it depends on your gait and running style. You’re best going to a specialist shop to get a gait analysis. You’ll end up paying more for your shoes than online but it’s work it for the first pair. You need to know if you need support or neutral. You need to know how much to size up. You need to know what kind of drop you need. Then if they suit you fine, you can buy them online in the future.

Thanks. Yes, I guess that does make sense. I'll take a trip to my nearest running shop next week then.

Can you please say what is a ‘specialist shop’? Would that include a large shop like Sports Direct, or do you mean a specific shop selling only running equipment?

No. Google gait analysis near me. Definitely not your regular sports shops. Specific running shops.

That's like saying what car is the best or milk of dark chocolate.

The best way of doing finding out is to book yourself in for gait analysis at a proper running shop, if you don't buy shoes from them they may charge but normally the cost of the gait analysis is absorbed into the cost of new running shoes.

When you have had the gait analysis done the running shop will show you what shoes they have to suit your running style.

Then you get to choose which are the best running shoes.
