I am in the market for some new shoes (as a treat to myself) and was told recently by my podiatrist that Brooks were bringing out a new "Super Shoe" in 2014 which has some special foam that cushions on impact then releases on take off.
What do you folks recommend? Any shoe advice from experienced shoe-bee-do people?

Go and get a gait analysis done. Totally worth the money and the shoes will work right for you.
I'm transitioning to barefoot running and the guy who served me was really keen to get it right, rather than push a sale. My shoes cost £80
Barefoot running ! Does this mean actually running wearing no footwear ?
Re Barefoot running - ideally you can/do run barefoot, but I'm not keen to do that in this country or in most public spaces in my own! I'm using Brookes pureflow shoes at the moment, but my brother uses Merrills. I would certainly barefoot on a beach in NZ as long as the sand wasn't too hot.
I suspect you need to get advice on how to run if you go this route - I do 'chi running and it works well in the barefoot shoes
There is a regular runner at my local parkrun who always runs barefoot and he pushes his son in a buggy at the same time. Always comes in at a good time too - awesome!!
PS: by barefoot, I mean with absolutley nothing on his feet!
Cool! My brother does some proper barefoot running sometimes in parks but we both make terrible jokes about knowing too much about what one might find on pavements...
I think if you are an existing runner changing to barefoot it may be more of an issue than for a beginner. Apart from my early weeks when I was running in walking boots, I've always had at most minimalist shoes (currently mainly using Vivobarefoot) and have a pair of Vivobarefoot walking boots too. No idea about whether I do it 'properly', but I don't drive myself hard and no injuries as yet (off road running)
Go to a proper running shoe. They'll test your gait and look at what is most suitable, e.g neutral or pronate. After that it's down to personal preference. Sweatshop have a returns policy that allows you to take them back, if you aren't happy with your shoes, within a certain period of time. The staff there are helpful and are knowledgeable and will take time with you.
I love naked anything but not on my feet, so much sh!t everywhere and stones. I'd recommend a gait analysis at the special shop ( sounds a bit 'Mr Ben'!! )Now wouldn't that be fun.., a new running adventure every time....I have Brooks and they have given my feet alot of love but it's time for new ones for me too....happy running shopping adventure..
