Week 2, Run 1

So...I almost felt guilty at this but I have gone and got myself a treadmill. It’s so hard to fit the runs in with all the kids and baby with me all day. And most of the time when my partner is here I’m dashing off to work in the evening and at weekends. So this way I get to run whilst little one naps...and I must say it didn’t feel easier than running outside lol

What do people think about treadmills? And the differences between running on one to outside. Anything I should perhaps bear in mind?

Either way...I am still chuffed I have done the first run of week 2. Last week someone told me to stick to the same 3 days a week which I am doing.

Here’s to Wednesdays run

If you've found you can fit in your running even better with a treadmill then that's great. I think someone mentioned on here to have your treadmill at an incline of 1.5. . Well done you 😊😊

I'm using a treadmill, as my husband had one before we met, and have just finished run 1 of week 2! As I have a baby it's just not possible to do outside (and I wont want to run in darker nights and wintry weather anyway), plus my pelvic floor is not what it was last year so I feel more comfortable running indoors until it strengthens 🤷🏼‍♀️

Well done and hope I hope to keep up with you and do my 3 runs a week 😁

Well done. Treadmill/outdoors the result will be the same... a fitter, healthier, happier running you with more energy to enjoy the rest of your life, especially keeping up with the kids.

Personally, I can’t run on one, I can’t get used to speeding up and down using my finger and I get bored really quickly... my PB for running on one stands at 5 minutes 🤣. So you’ll smash that soon!

If you’re planning to run outdoors eventually it could be worth keeping your hand in and trying to run outdoors when you get the chance... but all it would take if you didn’t do that is a few runs to get used to it again.

Enjoy Wednesday

I've bought a treadmill because I won't feel safe running in the dark. I got to 5k running outside and I still run outside when I can but I use the treadmill when I can only fit in a run later in the evening. It takes a bit of getting used to (it feels harder to me) and psychologically different. I have to push myself more to keep going and really try not to keep watching the time and distance. I think it's worth it though because it means I can still run 3 times a week.

I do my running on a treadmill and I love it.

Set your incline to 1-1.5 its supposed to replicate running outside better.

Use the programmes but don't be afraid to change the speed/incline when you are running.

Use music or a tablet to watch videos on as you go.

Lubricate under the belt (the bit you run on) every so often to keep it running smoothly.

It's a great piece of equipment to have, enjoy it.
