Off plan

Was so pleased with week 1 but week 2 just hasn't happened. My mums health has declined and we are making daily visits. Could really do with being able to find the time just to clear my mind. Shoukd I just keep to odd days at week 1 until I can get back into it?

How long ago did you have to stop ?

A week doesn't have to be a real calendar week...even if you have 3 days in between runs it doesn't matter, you can just keep chipping away at the plan, just repeat any runs that you can't make

Sorry to hear about your mum tj. That sounds very hard.

I’m sure wiser heads will be along, but I would say run as you can, not as you can’t.

If you managed week 1 ok, move in to week 2, and do those runs when you can manage them. You don’t have to complete all the runs of a C25K week in the space of a calendar week.

Sending lots of good wishes your way 😊

Oh I do feel for you and your poor Mum. I agree with the others. Run when you can. You will need some you time to cope with the situation.

Just do the run you are next due to do the next time you can get/create the opportunity. And so on and so on.

Since you are recognising that C25K may help you in your current situation, it may be worth looking at where and how you can squeeze it in. I don't know if you can visit your Mum, run from where she is, and come back to her - sometimes popping up twice is more of a boost for the ill person even though the actual time you spend with them is no more.

I wear a sports bra on any day I might run (ie really any day on which I didn't run the day before) and often running gear underneath other clothes so I can just strip off the top layer. And actually I am not that fussy about what I wear to run in anyway (although when you are learning and it is all a challenge it is perhaps especially important not to be overdressed and get too hot)

Good luck - remember that the running is for you, not you for the running and that will help you work out when you need to make space for the running and when it is healthier for you not to try.

Thanks for your support. Unfortunately mum psssed away a week ago. Tbis morning I got up determind to get back on track so went straight into week 2. Despite the gap between my end of wk 1 and today I coped really well. It was so good for my mental health too 💖

I’m so sorry tj 😢 That’s such sad news. Feeling for you and with you at such a sad, exhausting and lonely time.

Body and soul are so interconnected aren’t they? I think it’s brilliant you’ve managed to get out for a run - well done!

Thinking of you xx
