Going Even Farther off Plan this week

Feel free to skate past this post, it’s more or less just me talking to myself.

Waaaay back in November - when I broke my wrist - I was already signed up for a trail event at the beginning of last month, which obviously I wasn’t going to be able to take part in. So I swapped it to an event in March. March 9th in fact. This Coming Saturday Even 😲

It’s 7k, which I know I can do even if I just run for 20 minutes, walk for a bit, and repeat as necessary. I have a Canicross place so at least I’ll have help up the hills - though coming down them might slow me down (the word ‘technical’ is on the event write up, which generally seems to mean loads of tree roots, or a really steep downhill, or both at the same time!)

Anyway, if I count yesterday morning’s run as Week 8: Run 1, possibly run tonight again, dog powered as Run 2 - if not tonight then Tuesday without dog power. That leaves me a gentle non Week 8 Run to do on Thursday and then 2 days off to iron out any niggles before Saturday.

Oh exciting, have done a canicross event before? I know you have been training but I can’t remember if you have done the event.

Oh yes I’ve done events before, not this particular one though, and am totally unfamiliar with the location. This one is actually a non dog event that welcomes dogs.

Just be great to run with your dog good luck. I have a Jack Russell and he would just chase my feet 😂

You’d be surprised, if they take to it the terriers can go for miles, doing that determined terrier trot of theirs 😍.

Best of luck with the event, sounds tricky though (roots and steep) so take it carefully 😊
