How to plan runs

Hey all, I am on week 3, but repeated week 2 so been doing couch to 5k 4 weeks. I am still struggling to plan runs. I can only go when my husband is home to have my 2 year old and around work too so normally end up doing 3 runs kind of quite close together (with 1 day rest days) and then have a few days break. I almost feel like I'm starting back again then. How do people plan their runs? And also is there a better time? I normally do in the evening, have done 1 in the morning but struggled? I'm assuming there is no right answer lol but just wanted some ideas mostly 😁

Generally I just pick 3 set days. Monday and Wednesday evenings and then Parkrun on Saturday morning. But some weeks need to be adjusted. Didn’t get out running this week as I did a long run on Sunday and was away with work until last night. So I’ll get out for a run today and Saturday plus Sunday morning. It makes it easier if you can pick set days but life can get in the way.

Hi kez31 - well done for getting to W3. There’s no hard and fast rule but what is most important is that you have a rest day in between runs, hydrate really well the day before your run and try for 3 runs a week.

I’m on W6 but weeks 3 and 4 I only managed 2 runs due to work commitments etc.

Last week I ran on Monday then Thursday then Sunday. It’s just how the week worked out. Maybe look at it week by week, I see what my work load for the following week is and plan that way.

You’re getting out the door and that’s great. If you prefer running in the afternoon great, I prefer morning but if I can only fit in an afternoon that’s when I go. Hope this helps and isn’t as clear as mud. Happy running and keep us posted. 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️

I run early... for me, it is best part of the day.. usually Tuesday...Friday and Sunday...but patterns change... I now care for my granddaughter Tuesday and Wednesday.. so days and runs get changed..She arrives at 7 a.m. so If I get a want to get a run in on those days, I do it at about 5.45 and it is a short one:)

So I mix and match.. Monday... Thursday and Saturday..or, and only because I have been running for nearly fur years.. I do a long run Sunday... sneak in a short run on Monday and then it would be Thursday or Friday again...

As long as you have at least one rest day in between runs then you are fine:) Also, though you may value your time alone.. there are some great running buggies out there.. even 2nd hand and they are ideal for running with small one... I use mine on days when I just need a quick leg stretch... small one loves it:) She is two and a half.

I get up at 5am twice a week to fit in my weekday runs and the first day of a new week is always on Sunday when I have more time and a 2 day break after if I find r1 of a new week hard.

I have trouble running after I've eaten so I always run straight after getting back with the dogs and before breakfast.

Find what works for you, mix and match if you need to, if a week takes 8 or 9 days to finish, don't sweat it. At least you're out there !
