I actually did it!! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜€ But why is it always the first 5-10 minutes of running my legs tire easily but into 15-20 minutes along with mental determination it gets easier. Muscles nicely warmed up I guess. So the question is, now I need 5k routes this far into the plan (today was 5.08k!) my next run I thought I would do it at the local park run on Saturday also being a really flat route. Now should I drive to save my energy, or walk there to help warm up? Thinking of an easy stroll there, but it is 2.7k...

Brilliant, you got to and completed wk8r1. Walking to your parkrun will be a great warm up but it's up to you. Remember to register with parkrun and print off your barcode. Come back and let us know all about it. Good luck and we'll done 😊😊

I registered recently and have printed them off, even laminated them 😊 Should I get there half an hour early? It says 9pm start, but is that scanning the barcodes etc, or run start time?

At mine you don't need your barcode until you have run the course. They give you a chip a the end and you hand that in with your barcode to be scanned. At mine they also give a talk to first time runners at 8:50 which is worth attending. If you are early they were giving out bibs that say things like "First time runner" which you could wear if you want the attention! So in a nutshell there's no need to be super early, but worth getting there at around 8:45 in my view. Hope you enjoy it!

Ah thank you about the parkrun info!! That makes a lot of sense handing it in at the end of race, otherwise it would take forever with the amount of people! As for the bib, I think I’ll give that offer if available a miss, haha. Plus I get hot enough as it is running without an extra layer πŸ˜‰ and the weather forecast for Saturday is warm and sunny!! At least it is by a canal...

Just read your post properly - did you mean a 9am start???? The run starts at 9am in my local park, with the talk beforehand.

Congratulations on running 5.08K in week 8! Amazing stuff! I have to walk about 2.5km to my park run, which I did as my warm up. I did go early though, so once the run started I did wish I'd done more of a warm up in the 5/10 minutes before the run rather than stand about feeling intimidated by the much fitter participants!

The 5k did include the warm up and cool down walks, but yes its still a hell of a distance and an achievement for me! Thanx... 😊 I may have to use that 5-10 minutes spare time for a last minute run to the toilet... πŸ˜‚ Weather looks lovely for a Saturday too 😎

I still plan to do my 5 minutes warm up as on the W8R2 plan, 28 minutes run then walk the rest. But it will be nice with other people and on a new course 😊

I think that's a great plan. But I have a sneaky suspicion you might find you run the whole course in the end! Either way it doesn't matter, so long as you have fun.

Haha... maybe... But there is a charity 5k park run, same place 2 Oct which I’ve booked the day off work for (late shifts that week). I’m optimistically hoping Ive completed my C25k just before that, so an attempted full run then? πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ May be the first run without the app 😁 It will also be my first run with a very good and old friend who is a very experienced runner. Plus my first time in the dark! 6.30pm evening run...

We recommend that you stick to your C25K programmed workout if doing parkrun.
