Gremlins be gone! W8r1

I carelessly misjudged my warm up walk tonight, so had to run up my nemesis incline on the first few minutes this evening. Those nasty gremlins got busy straight away 'your legs already ache, you can't do this, just walk up here', but knowing that my legs always feel tired and achy on the first few minutes, I laughed in their faces and kept going! After that they pretty much left me alone.

There was a half-hearted attempt at around ten minutes when they tried to tell me there was a long way to go still, but they didn't get to me - I just brushed them off and kept on keeping on :)

From half way I was just determined that this was happening, and for the middle ten minutes or so I felt actually comfortable as though I could just keep going on and on. This has not happened often!

The last few minutes though, I really felt tired. But I wasn't going to give in - and in the last 30 seconds I even managed a bit of Fartlek just to prove a point to those gremlins. Fast for 5 breaths, slow for 5 breaths, fast for 7 breaths - and the end. Phew!

I'm hungry now though, so need to resist the temptation to eat everything in sight. Oh, and including the warm up and cool down walks I covered just over 5k, so I'm delighted with that!

Brilliant! Sounds like a great start to Week 8. You'll be back to that 30 minutes and beyond in no time! :)

love the idea of "Gremlins", I have the same feelings pretty much throughout my run and have been struggling to shake them off. I'm going to visualise them as actual gremlins now and boot them away :) !
