Hey guys.. I'm currently on W7 and my last 4 attempts at R2 I've had to quit 10 minutes in as my right calf muscle (to the right and round the front) starts to feel really tight and uncomfortable.. I tried running through it on the first attempt at R2 but it felt like it was going to pop.. I've tried 3 times since and 10 minutes in it starts playing up.. I've tried walking it out for a few minutes but it doesn't go away until I stretch it out.. (I've always followed the advice on stretches after runs and do it religiously) Is it because I haven't managed to run 3x a week for a few weeks? I was also on holiday for 2 weeks and didn't run at all) Frustrated at this stage in the programme as I feel all the hard work has been done.. Any advice appreciated.

Maybe there's been too long a gap between runs. I'm no expert and maybe someone will offer you better advice. But why don't you go back a few weeks and go slow and try building it up from there. Good luck 😚😊

Hi Buddy, yes I thought that too. I think I'll try going back a few weeks but make sure I run 3x a week as advised. Thanks ☺️

Might be worth going back a couple of weeks as Buddy says.

Or break it down into 5 5 minute runs, with a minute of walking between each one, see if that helps.

Or might be worth trying a compression sock or sleeve.

Must feel disappointing & you want to do it! No expert either but had the same thing in the beginning with mine! Feel for you😢

Here’s what helped me:

It was hard but I had a few rest days!!

bath soaks in Epsom Salts (magnesium) While calf still warm massaged anti inflammatory cream in gently plus regularly 3x day. Used a roller to gently roll the calf. Walked for 30 mins every day but a bit slower than usual warm up walk. First run back & thereafter slowed pace to a snail🐌 & then some!!! Plus lots and lots of water. Statics before running and stretches after. No problem since. If this hadn’t worked I would have seen a physio.

If in doubt get GP/physio advice!

Thank you Annie! No bath unfortunately or I'd try the Epsom salts. I think I'll just go back a few weeks and run 3x a week suggested. Thanks 😊
