Week 5 Run2

It is difficult to judge pace when running so the advice about keeping it slow is best heeded.

I did this as I set off on the first of my 8 minute runs. It felt slow but my breathing was ok and I recovered quickly on the walk element. At the start of the second 8 mins I set off at the same pace as the first 8. When Laura announced that there were only 4 mins left I upped the pace slightly and for the final minute a little bit more.

I was sure that my overall pace would be slower than my last run but in fact it was slightly faster.

This was a little bit of a bonus as my main focus is to be able to keep running for 30 minutes three times a week. I have no ambitions about speed or distance.

My problem in the past has been that I have always wanted to go further, or faster or run for longer. And this has been my undoing as it hasn't been sustainable.

Self control is the skill that the C25K gives but is often not recognised. Going too fast and too far too soon is the injury route. I had to learn this too and nurse a grumbling Achilles. But patience is a running virtue!

I have just discovered the joys of park run.just managed 3 pbs in 3 weeks that does include 2 stops in all occasions.but running with the slower runs at the back of the pack seems to work well for me.

Think of it as a traffic jam....you will soon find your pace.im managing 1.5 miles before my heart rate goes really high then have a 2 min breather then go at it again.

Hope this insight if some assistance to you.
