Holy smokes! Although I've tried the Couch to 5k programme in the past, this is the first time that I've made it this far.
Some things that I've found have helped me out are:
- building it into my day. My office is by a canal towpath so I use my lunchbreak to go for a run along the canal. It means that I get it done and I'm more energised for the afternoon at my computer.
- not putting pressure on myself. In the past, I've been so fixated on doing 3 runs a week with only a day's rest between and ended up feeling defeated if, for whatever reason, I couldn't do the run on the preplanned day and I've given up because it wasn't "perfect." This time, as long as all 3 runs are completed within a 7 day period i.e. a week, if there's a break of say 2 days between runs (like this week as I had a tension headache one day and dance class another day), I'm happy.
- this community. Uploading my end of week screenshots is keeping me accountable and I like reading everyone's lovely, supportive comments so thank you!
If anyone has any other tips, please let me know. So far my motivation hasn't waned but I suspect that might change as the programme continues!
