Welcome to the forum and C25K Steve, nice that you are preparing and planning for your running journey.

Just remember once you start take all the runs slowly, you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to, good luck.

Welcome and well done you! Please do check out the FAQ post for Newbies...so much tried and tested advice there..

Post often..take it slow and steady...and enjoy.

There should be need to repeat runs or weeks if you complete each run and take it very steadily:)

Cheers. Any advice on a good standard trainer to get me started? I’ve read about gait analysis etc and I do have a running specialist near me. However I’ve literally never ran since school/college. So bit apprehensive about running on a treadmill for first time in a shop. Was just wanting an average pair of trainers to start me out, get an idea myself how I run and then upgrade later.

If you’ve got a DW sports near you they do reasonably priced new balance trainers for about £50 - they will also help with right type too .... or if you have a Decathlon near you then I’d head there - great reasonable trainers and tops/shorts etc

I’m in the Newcastle area. There’s a place called Start Fitness that’s meant to be decent. That’s where I was thinking of trying. Looking on their site looks like lots of choices and reasonably priced.

I went to Decathlon and got a proper running pair of their own brand reasonably cheaply. They have been fine. I think mine cost 40€

I do want to get a proper gait analysis done though when I can, but up until now these have been fine (although I hated them at first as they were so different from my comfy pair of trainers that I started out in)
