Week 1 done! Off to a flying start!

Greennotleanmachine profile image

Hi all!

I just wanted to say how lovely this community is! I've read so many posts and seen how encouraging everyone is to each other. It's a breath of fresh air here in cyberspace!

I've just started Couch to 5k and completed my first week. I've tried it in the past and my own excuses have talked me out of going for a run but this time I'm determined to see it through to the end and beyond.

So far, I've run twice round the park by mine and along to canal towpath at lunchtime when I've been in the office. Fortunately, the weather has been on my side this week.

Any tips on how to keep the momentum going now I've got started?

:-)

Well done for getting you’re first week done! You’re off!

I’ve just started wk 8 today and the biggest thing that has kept me going has been knowing that I never again want to have to put myself through the pain of starting again. If I have a tough run, I remind myself how I struggled in week 1 and just how far I’ve come since then.

The support you get on here, and things you pick up from reading other people’s posts has really helped me. Good luck and enjoy it

Well done! Great start, sounds like you’re really positive about it all 👏🏻 I’ve got one more run on W3 to go, and I’m finding it’s partly this lovely forum that’s keeping me going. Keep posting your runs and you get such support! Also I think it’s good to have your runs scheduled in to your week so you know how they’re fitting in with mealtimes, work and such, then as it’s part of your plan, you just do it. Good luck!

Stick to it and stick at it is my advice - I’m about to start Week 5 and have been massively impressed with how by following the instructions precisely (including rest days) and as best as you can, the routine, you really do make progress.

I’d also add keep reading all the posts here to tap into the thoughts, experiences, etc of others....really boosts your mental resilience as C25K takes care of the physical side.

Enjoy!

I, like you have tried numerous times to complete c25k. I believe there are a few things that made this attempt a success

- this forum

-my determination

- assigning ‘run days’ (Tuesday Thursday Saturday no excuses)

Also I feel blessed I work with quite a few runners, so this time I told everyone I knew that I was starting (in the past I kept it to myself) friends and colleagues checked in and supported me regularly which in turn helped with my determination. I wish you so much luck in your running journey and look forward to your future posts x

Good idea Sp81, go public👍 Follow the plan, get hooked on the euphoria of accomplishment. I've just started week 7 - how did that happen?🤪 you've got this - stick at it.

Just remind yourself you’re doing this for you and the reasons you started it. Also keep following the program it really is a great guide!

Writing on here every now and then and reading words of encouragement, empathy at times and support is just brilliant. And finally reading other success stories spurs me on. Keep going you are doing great! 😊
