How tight are your trainers?

On week 2 now and was just wondering about your trainers.

I have two pairs I generally use, one pair are as comfy as a pair of old slippers but are not specifically for those who over-pronate (as I do) whilst the others are specifically for my over-pronation but are really tight across the width of my foot. So my question is this: should I wear the tight ones with the laces much looser, or will that compromise the support they offer?

Always wear shoes that are comfortable, if you wish to have proper running shoes go and get a gait analysis at a specialist sports shop, after that they will recommend a pair of shoes for you, also buy a good pair of compression socks to match. My normal shoe size is 7 but my new specialist running shoes are size 8 with the socks, I find running in them very comfortable.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve had a gait analysis done and it showed my overpronation so I do have the correct pair of shoes (the tight ones!) so was wondering if by loosening the laces I’ll reduce their effectiveness/support.

Comfort is definitely key imo along with proper support if you need it. I think if your trainers are too tight they could cause you more issues as your feet can get wider with the heat - so tight trainers could mean blisters and pins and needles, corns etc (I’m no expert so could be wrong...?) Totally agree about gait analysis - certainly won’t hurt and could save you a lot of trouble in the long run (no pun intended!) 🤗 x

Have a look on YouTube about different ways of lacing your running shoes there are loads of different setups according to what your needs are your left shoe could be a different setup to your right shoe

Running shoes come in different shapes. All brands make support shoes. It sounds like you’ve been sold a pair of shoes that don’t fit your feet. If they’re still new I would take them back for an exchange.

I too would go back to the shop and ask them your question and for further advice. Good running shops usually provide aftersales service.

You said you've had gait analysis if so I would go back to the shop and tell then your trainers feel tight. Having loose laces could cause an injury. Good luck 😊

I over pronate and was advised to buy certain trainers. They are horrid to run i and make my right foot ache, gonna go and buy some neutrals to wear instead.

I would go back to where you had your gait analysis done and get them to check - they should be giving max support to your feet while running, but not so that you are feeling uncomfortable - they can advise!
