Week 7/1 after holiday rest period

After taking kit and having the best of intentions, I didn't run on holiday at all. Got back early yesterday and was slightly dreading the first run after two weeks off. But I made myself go out and have just got back. It was hard - partly, I think, because of the physical break, but also because I'm still a newbie at this. It's not yet something I just do - I go through all sorts of "but I need to do holiday washing and fix the garden" excuses and "you'll feel great after" encouragement in my head still, before I go out. But I managed it and, amazingly, got my best 5k time so far - 36.18 - so I'm feeling very pleased with myself.

In the actual 30 minutes of the programme I cover 4.2km - so some way to go before it's 5km! Not sure if I'll ever get there, but I don't really mind, as long as I keep enjoying it.

Similar situation for me, except I didn’t run because I will I’ll with a chesty cold for the whole two weeks. Struggling with asthma now, but dosed up on Ventolin I ventured out with great trepidation and got round the 25 minutes no bother. Maybe the rest did us good! Well done us!

Well done you for getting back on it, hope you had a great holiday. I'm confused though, why are you running for 36 minutes if you are on Week 7?

Hi, I’m not actually running for that long. I start the programme when I leave home but always have a bit extra walking to do at the end before I get home - so I think the stats I gave are misleading. So just the programme, including the warm up and down walks plus 25 minutes running covered 4.2 km. And i’ve Just realised that’s 35 minutes! Must get better at record keeping!
