Never thought I’d get this far but so far motivation is great and I’m really enjoying my (very) early morning solo runs. Just me and my earphones and some much needed headspace.
Did anyone else find Week 6, Day 1 harder than the 20 minute non stop run in week 5? I was looking forward to the walking breaks but found that stopping and starting was more difficult than I thought it would be!

Well done on your run! I graduated several years ago now and I still remember hating the return to walk breaks of Week 6 after that first 20 min run! Look on it as a mental game - you know you can do it, so don't give those gremlins any of your headspace! 😀👍
Hi kazzy! Great work! 👍🏻 Interesting what you said about week 6 run1. I have just completed week 5 and really enjoyed the 20 min run. I was surprised to see breaks on the week 6 first run but thought I’d enjoy them. I wonder now if I will feel the same as you! But anyway, kicking butt at it aren’t we! Glad you’re doing well 😁☺️
Me too! Did W5R3 yesterday and was much easier than I thought and was surprised to see breaks on W6. Fellow trainees and graduates here have warned me W6 is actually quite hard. I am doing R1 either tomorrow or Tuesday so will find out!
I have done week 6 runs 1 and 2. I think I’m unusual, but I liked them well enough. I think it’s training us to do ‘recovery’ runs already! I assume it’s also so we have enough fuel left in our legs for 25 mins..eek!
Good on you. Hope it all goes well for you. Like folks above I've just done W5R3 and been advised about 6.1 which I aim to do early Tues. Good luck to all
I was over the moon with Run 3 week 5 and went out this morning full of positivity (?) for run 1 week. OMG, I nearly puked. The first 5 min run was bad, the 8 minute was a bit better and the last 5 min run almost finished me off. I was red faced and in agony. What happened in the space of 48 hours? I note that your post was 1 month ago, so I hope you stuck with the programme! Any tips?
I did stick with it and I graduated on Sunday! I found it easier to do the longer runs if I’m honest. I just kept estimating the length of the songs I was listening to and thinking “3 more songs - I can do this!” That, together with Sarah’s encouraging Geordie tones really helped. Keep at it - the buzz you get when you finish those runs is well worth it!
I have the same attitude for the songs! 20 min run is 5 songs! I also play quite slow stuff to stop myself from running to a fast beat. I'm attempting Run 2 on Thursday- I'm hoping it will be better! Thanks for the advice. And congrats on completing the plan!
