I am on week 5 run 3 hopefully completing today. Is it possible to be able to run 10k by September? Theres a local 10k happening but I'm wondering if I will be ready in time? Or if im rushing in to it? I haven't signed up yet

So, if you finish week 5 today, that then gives you 4 weeks left to finish the program, which, may or may not have you reaching 5k (no mention of your current pace in the above).

The JuJu 10k program is another 8 weeks.

I'm not going to say it's impossible as strange things happen all the time, we're on a forum where people who have never run before or for a long time are running for 30 minutes in 9 weeks.

I would take your overall distance from week 5 run 3, how you were when you finished that - were you out of breath, nearly falling at the end or ready for more, before I even thought about could I run 10k in essentially 2 months time.

Even when I was running 10k regularly, there would be some days I couldn’t get to 5k, i’d just be shattered. Sometimes i’d run a race with a slight injury and hope i could make it... and didn’t. I was tracking my mate running a mountain race, after an hour I noticed he wasn’t moving...I was worried, then he called me and told me he was in the pub 🍻My point is Kez, no one can guarantee that they’ll finish a run... So just give it a go, it’s good to set yourself hard goals. I think you’ll smash it, but It’s not a big deal if you have to walk some of it.

If you are happy to walk some of it then sign up! Also you could look at Jeffing (walk run technique). I sign up for runs when I know that at least I can walk that distance, ie 5km, 10km

As others have said... it maybe just about possible to get to 10k in time safely... a lot depends on how far you’re running. If you can run 7/8k by then schedule some walk breaks in and have fun... you won’t be the only one doing some walking.

It will be great motivation and, if you get to September and you're nowhere near 10k,you can just go and see how you do, accepting that you will probably be walking some of it, or you could simply not go. Nobody can force you to do anything you don't want to do! But I get the impression you would really like to give it a go. ☺

Yeah you can probably do it if you train regularly through the 5 and 10 plans. Things may happen along the way to mess with your goals, but what’s life without a few surprises? 🙃😁Go for it, you’ll be great 👍🏼
