WEEK 6 RUN 1 CAME CRASHING BACK TO EARTH!!!

So there I was thinking to myself "after running 20 minutes at the back end of Week 5 I could probably jump over the moon if I tried....." Set the pace higher and the Incline on the treadmill up and after the first 5 minutes was flagging a bit... OK lets be honest, was struggling.. Got through the first walk OK and half way through the next run lowered the incline and the pace a bit and continues from there OK... No shame in that. guys. Right?

Hi, no shame in that at all. You’re being sensible by listening to your body🙂🏃‍♂️ Just take it slow and steady though and don’t try to do too much too soon. Your body’s still getting used to this running lark and it would be a terrible shame to pick up an injury so close to completing the program😳 Good luck with it all!🏃‍♂️💪

No shame at all, alot of us struggled with that run, I know I did! I couldn't understand what was going on! Keep going, you'll be fine on the next one.

No shame whatsoever. It's surprising how tough that run can be after the 20 minutes at the end of week 5! I found it rough too. :)

I think we all thought if I can run for 20 minutes I can do anything, that's until we tried week 6😊

Don't panic, there are lots of posts about being caught out by this run if you search under the week and run. It's all about learning what works for you. I work with the Old Floss mantra "slow and steady", my running buddy, the Dog Child, (long story, makes sense to me!) is 18 as opposed to my 53 and whilst we start and finish at the same time our distances are totally different. Hang on to the fact you ran for 20 minutes, that's an achievement you are taking into the new week

When I looked at the plan before running any of it, that was the run that I feared the most. It catches many people out... nice small numbers add up real quickly, and walk breaks count too... it’s a longer workout than the 20 minute run, so it’s tougher... and if we don’t give it the respect it deserves it bites us on the ass. Sounds like it didn’t get a full hold, and you completed the session at the right pace and incline... well done. Next intervals are similar. Don’t adjust those settings until this plan is done!!!
