Hello everyone, the UK weather has taken a turn for the worse this June and the rain is relentless! Having graduated only last week I am determined to consolidate and get my 3 runs a weeks fix!
Trouble is, I don’t know how to dress for the rain. I wear a fleece and light rain jacket (the pac a Mac types) and I then feel hot during the run! If I wear my sleeveless running top with a sleeveless gillet, I feel cold when I start my run.
Would appreciate any advice on this so I can enjoy running in the rain comfortably.

Hi Jaojao when you wear you sleeveless top are you still cold once you've been running for 10 mins? In not then stick with that. It's not a problem to feel under dressed when you set out x
Yesterday I went in Capri running tights and a thin long sleeved top. It was windy and spitting and I felt cold but by the end I was sweating x
I'm a bit of a wierdo, I wear a fleece nearly every time I go out, unless its tropical. If I get warm, sleeves up, zip down. If I get hotter it gets tied around my waist! I do however wear a running top (from Lidl) and a pair of joggers, usually in black as it's slimming.
Hi Jaojao, I found a great lightweight running jacket, posted on here the other day. Wore in the rain /wind and didn't get too hot as its breathable. You know me and rain ☔ 😂
Have a read of Kertesz latest post as she asked the same question recently and got some great suggestions/links to suitable windproof/waterproof jackets !
Hi JaoJao I usually get very warm by half way so I tend to only wear a light jacket with hood if it’s raining. If not then I’m out in leggings and a long t shirt. I find a cap and my headphones keep me warm if it’s a bit fresh at the beginning. I often pass dog walkers wrapped up in winter coats, hats and boots. They must think I’m mad running along in a tshirt but honestly by the end I’m usually far too warm in anything else. Hopefully the rain will ease off through the next week and we will be back to flaming June fingers crossed! 😊🏃🏻♀️🌞
I wear a long sleeved top all the time whatever the weather and never bother with a jacket. I brace myself through the warm up walk up hill and as soon as I set off I am hot. In the rain it seems to work nicely as you get wet gradually so you don't feel cold. I had bought a jacket but found that I was wearing it for the warm up walk and then had to take it off as soon as I started running, and I never needed it for the cool down walk either.
You could try cycling arm warmers. Then, if you get hot, just take them off and stuff them into your waistband/pouch etc. They're lightweight and good for keeping the chill out. Cycling shops sell them, and they're available at lots of in line sites too. I'm posting a link so you get the idea. Can cost £10 up. chainreactioncycles.com/mob...
