Here we are at the second week of June... it is flying by!
I don't know about flaming June.. more like soggy June where I am!
I am about to climb off the IC and head out into the sunshine or the rain... getting out there is the thing I am planning to start a new running phase this week...I shall post about it later and am hoping I may be joined by some new runners
The number of folk on the forum increases daily...( the numbers are truly frightening), and although it is tricky to keep up with everyone's progress... it is great to have a little fun post, so we can see who is on which week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.
I apologise if I miss posts or replies, as there really are a lot of us!
We can support, encourage and generally help each other, in a positive and friendly way, with no thought of comparison.
Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.
If you have just Graduated, also, this will be a great place to keep you motivated, and the new Quest on here too...this month it is called..Jaunty June!!!
One of the best things about this weekly chat is that you can talk to each other, support and encourage each other and find folk on the same week or run as you.
So, please do come and join the fun...slip off your running shoes and just let us know how it is going

Hi Floss, glad that you are now going to get off the IC and have a run in the sun or rain.
I registered with Parkrun the other day, got my daughter to print out the barcode on a printer and I hope to run my first parkrun next month. π π I love the name that you have given this months Quest, Jaunty June, cool, π . π
Hi, I start week 3 of consolidation tomorrow. This week gave me 2 nice ones and one real "hang in there" run. Wish I knew what to do, I was hydrated, rested...who knows.
Anyway, last week of week 9 repeat this week then I will start adding my 10 % to get to 5k. First goal.
The more runs you do, those longer distances evolve...lots of runs build up, not only the legs, but the strength and the stamina... your body will tell you when it is ready for more Go you!
"June is leaking out all over!" πΌπ΅π€πΉπ€π΅πΌ Doesn't have quite the same ring does it, eh?
However, undeterred, I'm off to a good start. Did my 9k (relatively) successfully and then my Personal Trainer tried to murder me with an hour of circuits and I can barely walk now (in a good way, if that's possible to say!). So when the agony wears off, I'm expecting stronger legs for my first 10k this week. Hope so as the 9k was not comfortable due to a brand new knee niggle that's popped up from nowhere (and gone away again). Dratted body paying me back for years of abuse... guess I deserve it, but putting it right now.
Poole parkrun on Saturday, too, which is "proper" tourism.
Am 6 weeks ahead on my weight loss plan now and people are really starting to comment. Perhaps the gym work I'm doing is subtly changing my shape?
So I'm off "darn sarf" in a couple of hours... have packed for anything from blazing sunshine to minor hurricane. Excited!
Some people see others trying to get fit or make changes as a threat. I don't know why this is. Ignore their apathy and keep running! You are doing great. As Michael Jordan and company say you are already a runner!
Just found a young ex soldier who is waiting for the arrival of their first born.
He is helping me with my garden and just txt me his 18.48 Run for Life time for his 5k.Although I am 50 years his senior, the running magic I can share with him and I am just so proud of him, as if he were my own son or grandson.
Just something else that the gift of running and the magic forum delivers.
Indeed and he, from you... that patience and perseverance win the day.. and he, like you will still be running when his small one is grown
It is so good to share...as we well know... I am healing..listening to my body which took me out for a Week 1 Run 1 run this morning...In 2015, I think I covered a kilometre..in the minute run/walks... this morning... 3K...but had to repeat two because of loose laces! All so much easier
Just about to start week 9 and boy was week 8 a struggle! Iβm finding those first few minutes of my run really hard. I had to restart the last run after the first couple of minutes because I just couldnβt find my rhythm at all. Not sure why.
Well done, bet youβll be glad to see the back of that old monster!
Totally agree about trying to respond etc to everyone - I always feel bad knowing Iβve missed thousands (10s of, more like) but try and remind myself it is just sheer impossibility to do so π₯Ί - itβs certainly not because I donβt want to, just that thereβll never be enough hrs in a day!
Anyway, with regard to where we all are on our journeys Iβm starting W8 this week π€ x
I can understand - but it is impossible, sometimes you have to look after yourself to be better placed to help others (even the emergency services & armed forces take leave) π€ x
