What is Your Week? May...Week 2.

Hi everyone... sorry this is a day late again!!!!!!!

Time is flying by and here we are again... :)

I am getting back on track after a spell on the IC...it is really slow and steady but I am getting there:) The runs do wait and they do not mind how slow you are:)

The number of folk on the forum increases daily... and although it is tricky to keep up with everyone's progress... it is great to have a little fun post, so we can see who is on which week of the programme, and hopefully it will help everyone to feel more included on the forum.

We can support, encourage and generally help each other, in a positive and friendly way, with no thought of comparison.

Please remember it doesn't matter if you stay on the same week for a while, that is fine; it is a journey and it really doesn't matter how long it takes, it will be so worth it when you get to the final run.

If you have just Graduated, also, this will be a great place to keep you motivated, and there is always the Quest on the Bridge to 10k forum also, for Graduates., and the new Quest on here too...this month it is called..Spring Fever... and I hope we all catch it:)

One of the best things about this weekly chat is that you can talk to each other, support and encourage each other and find folk on the same week or run as you.

So, please do come and join the fun...slip off your running shoes and just let us know how it is going :)

That was a nice update, Oldfloss. I'm off out on my W9R3 today. Will feel a bit strange not doing the program any more, but I'm looking forward to joining the bridge communities. I'd be sad if I had to continue running "on my own". This is such a supportive bunch of people :-) And by the way, love the picture. The sea always makes me happy.

Well done you.... Bridge is very friendly and loads of great support there...!

Just done week 5 run 1 and it was hard! I have to admit I am a bit apprehensive about what’s to come. Will just keep plodding on though! For that last 5 minutes today I am sure I was almost going backwards 😂

Very well done... just keep it slow and keep it steady!

Week 6 - just did run 1 this morning. Going well, although the spring has gone out of my step a little bit now that the runs are getting harder! Determined, though.

Relax into the longer runs... start slow, stay slow and let the new running legs begin to find their happy pace:)

Week 1 run 2 , hated the first one but loved my 2nd this morning

Well done... slow and steady and enjoy:)

Hi Oldfloss. I'm taking my time on Week 7, putting extra strengthening, stretch and rest sessions in-between runs after struggling with post-run muscle tightness. Hopefully running W7R2 tomorrow. It's my first run since Tuesday and I am feeling a bit apprehensive, but I've done Pilates and biked 10K in-between, so hopefully I'll be on form. Wish me luck.

Well done you.. you are going to be fine...all that extra work will pay off... just relax... land lightly, let the legs carry you..:)

I am heading out, also, tomorrow... for my longest run since being on the IC...it will only be about 3K and it will be steady and slow...we will run together... and we will do it:)x

in reply to Oldfloss

Thank you x. Check in with you tomorrow to share how we both get on ☺️ x

We did it???? Hope you liked ABBA !!!

in reply to Oldfloss

Yes!! I did it!! 😃 Completed W7R2 and I felt comfortable. More than I hoped for, so really pleased. The strengthening exercises, cross training and extra rest days seem to be helping.

Thank you for your encouragement yesterday. Hope your 3K went well?

What’s with ABBA?! I do like them, yes, but think I’ve missed something 🤔. Is it a cryptic clue?

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to

Well you ran with me and I had ABBA helping us along:)

Huge well done... i am glad it all went well... :)x

in reply to Oldfloss

Oh lovely!!! I had Bryan Adams 😊. Love a bit of ABBA though! Definitely on my playlist for next run! 🤗

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to

ABBA has gt me through so many runs.... I simply have to hear a particular track and the legs just do it on their own...you had a great run today :)

Hi Oldfloss. I’m on 2nd week of consolidation. After a weekend of a lot of cleaning and sorting had a slight ache in my arthritic knee. Still wanted/needed to run this morning so ran very slowly. It was fabulous. Ended up carrying on and ran a very slow (50mins) 5k. For one second I thought 50 mins for 5k that’s awful.... but then...realised, not only had I ran 5k but I had run for 50 mins. I would never have believed that possible 2 months ago 😀

Hello :) I’ve just finished W3 R3 so feeling very pleased with myself this evening. I live on the coast so the beautiful sunset over the sea was such a treat and enough to spur me on to keep going.

Planning on starting W4 on a Wednesday - slightly apprehensive about 2x 3 minutes and 2x 5 minutes!

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to shesawstars

No worries... slow and steady.. relax and enjoy!

The coast...you are so lucky... perfect...I am just back home from the coast... back again in ten days... lovely running...onward and upward with those glorious sunsets as backdrops:)

Well done you!

I am only 3 miles from the sea, so perhaps I'll do my W3r3 at the coast to have a change :)

I also live near at the coast, and running up to the seafront and back. It really does feel like a treat.

Will do week 8 Run 2 tomorrow morning - so glad to have found this forum, a problem shared is indeed a problem halved

I added 2 extra minutes on W8 run 1 very slowly, as things were looking good, so hoping R2 feels relaxed as I know mentally that I can do it

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to backintime

Slow..steady..stick to the run times and head to that podium .

Just finished week 8. Week 9 tomorrow! I had an ACL reconstruction a year ago and have never run in my life (used to bunk off cross country in school 😉) son to now be running for 28 mins, albeit slowly, is astounding. The plan is just amazing and really works. Everyone is just so friendly and supportive here as well. I'll be getting my head badge very soon!!

Just done W3r2, changed to a slightly flatter route. Is this cheating? Felt that the steepish bit of previous run was a bit daunting. At 65, I'm really enjoying finding my running mojo!

Oldfloss profile image
OldflossAdministratorGraduate in reply to PoolBunny1

Not cheating at all..plenty of time for hills..well done you!
