We left Javea last Tuesday in a thunderstorm. The rain increased as we went around the Valencia by pass, little did we know what was to come for the poor people behind us and in the little towns nearby. As we headed towards Zaragoza, we passed through some hills. A month earlier it had been baking hot and deep blue skies. Now, there were waterfalls gushing out of the cliffs and across the carriageway. We could see the roads below the motorway were submerged. I am so pleased that Alan pressed on, albeit slowly as if we had stopped we would still be there. Amazingly by the time we reached our chalet in the Pyrenees the sun was shining and we sat outside. Turning on the TV we saw the carnage and devastation that was behind us. We are home now and so thankful.
This morning after 5 days travelling I decided to do a short ‘speed’ run (would be a crawl for many of you!). We really do have to be grateful for being able to get out there and share our journeys.
This picture is from our brief trip through the beautiful Pyrenees.
