So after my.....no, i won't say disasterous........more educational run on Friday when I attempted w7r1 outside after plodding along quite happily on my treadmill up until then, and my knees and shins were in bits and my confidence fell through the potholes in the road, I got back on my trusty machine with its lovely shock absorbers and repeated the run this morning. Really chuffed to have managed it although still really disappointed that outside running hurts so much.
Anyway, not to be defeated, I am off into Cardiff to go and get gait analysis done and a decent pair of trainers with good shock absorption in the hope I will eventually get to enjoy the great out doors.
Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think i would willingly go and spend my hard earned money on a pair of trainers! What has happened to me?! πππ

A good pair of running trainers should make all the difference!. Happy shopping β
hi Lindsey, well done with your run, nothing wrong with treadmill, youβre still runningπ€ remember the early weeks when even a couple of minutes was a challenge. You /We are doing fine, as our stamina builds up I think the outside running will also get better but you are right to get gait analysis for shoes, nice treat and added incentive once you make that investment too π
Well i went and did the whole gait analysis thing. It was really interesting and I feel happy that I have had professional advice as these shoes are not cheap.......hence why I have waited so long before purchasing as I wasn't sure how this c25k thing would go!
Interestingly, when i did my own step by step gait analysis on the Brooks website last week, the pair of trainers they suggested were the ones which were the worst for me in the shop! I'm so glad i didn't go ahead and buy them from the website as it would have been a very costly mistake!
I never did get my snazzy leggings after w5r3 like i had promised myself, so I'm telling myself I deserve these!
wow love the shoes Lindsey, they look the business , an investment, so now you have added incentive to run π I dont want to come across them for sale on ebay - one carful owner, only worn in the houseπ€£π€£
Seriously shoes are my graduation present to me when I finish the programmeπ€π» - the leggings will stay in drawer for cold weather as I seem to overheat in them at the minuteπ
What has happened to you? answer, you have now got the running bug π, sadly there is no cure, just enjoy the running.
Good that you eventually completed run 1 of week 7 on the treadmill. Try running on smoother surfaces outside for further runs, not where there's loads of potholes and rough surfaces.
Well I got them! They feel sooo nice compared to my cheapest possible off the shelf in Sports Direct ones! Possibly the most expensive pair of shoes I have ever bought but hopefully an investment π
Wellll......i was planning on going to Run and Become in Cardiff City Centre about 45 mins from our house, so nagged husband to drive as my car doesn't have beep beeps and i make a pigs ear parking in multi storey car parks. He reluctantly agreed but when we found the shop it turns out it is closed on Sundays. Cue minor argument because "surely" I MUST have noticed that it wasn't open today when I looked it up on line before we left (which of course i hadn't π) Luckily google found another small independent running shop not too far from where we were so I went and got the gait analysis done there instead.
Well L-j that seems to have been a marathon(π) effort but well done you and thanks for the shoe porn! Hope they serve you well! And big up to your hubs for his part in the escapade!
Lovely! They look ever so comfy as well as flash. Trust they will really do the trick. So now you need special running docks to go with them.... Lets not tell hubby yet! ππππΌ
Thank you! They are ridiculously comfy....I'm wondering if I might get away with wearing then to work? π€
You will have to explain to me what running docks are though.....I'm so un-technical and it sounds complicated and expensive! Having said that, Hubby likes technical.....
Well, typo/predictive text confusion. π€ͺ Running SOCKS makes more sense, perhaps. π
And although I was scornful at first, I do now think running socks make a difference. They have special padding in the right places & help keep feet cool.
π€£π€£ they certainly will help. I had some Brooks before my current ones and they were by far the best. Wish Iβd got another pair. Good luck with your journey.
